EA kills Battlefield 3: Aftershock for good
Battlefield 3: Aftershock is an iOS installment of EA’s popular shooter franchise. And, to quote the immortal film critic Jay Sherman, “it stinks.” Aftershock is so bad that our own Mike Thompson did more than warn our readers away from the game: he advised them to not even look at it, lest its rotten-fish interface melt your skin like a certain Ark of the Covenant. In response to overwhelmingly bad reviews, EA is permanently suspending development on Battlefield 3: Aftershock. You may look upon the App Store again without fear.

Aftershock was initially pulled from the App Store last month, though EA hinted that the game’s absence may have been temporary. “EA Mobile is committed to delivering mobile entertainment experiences that are on par with the content and quality users have come to expect from their favorite EA gaming brands,” the company stated. “To this end, we have decided to remove Battlefield 3: Aftershock from the App Store and are currently re-evaluating the app in response to the consumer feedback we’ve received. We thank all the fans who have downloaded the game to date.”
Today, a representative from EA reached out to Vox Games and confirmed that Battlefield 3: Aftershock has been given the final needle:
“In the interest of bringing consumers only the highest level of quality mobile entertainment, EA Mobile has decided to suspend development and support of Battlefield 3: Aftershock and refocus its resources on other titles. The Aftershock servers will be live through March 31st, 2012, and customers who have already downloaded the game can continue to play until then.”
Aftershock was a free download, so no refunds will be issued–not even for that little piece of your soul that the game chewed up and spit out onto the pavement.
