Do lower prices create lower expectations?

Ars Technica recently spoke to several indie developers, including Jolly Rover‘s Andrew Goulding and Machinarium‘s Jakub Dvorsky, about the challenge of deciding how much to charge for their games. Finding the pricing “sweet spot”on portals such as Steam or Apple’s App Store can be tricky, since setting the price too high can turn buyers away, but setting it too low can create a perception of lower quality and condition people to expect cheap entertainment all the time.
