Lovecraftian Underwater Roguelite Dive or Die: Children of Rain Launches on PC

Dive or Die: Children of Rain is now out. Indie French developer Drop Rate Studio and French publisher Dear Villagers have brought the title to PC. Apparently, just three people spent the last two years building this drowned world.

Years of the Black Rain have completely drowned the world in Dive or Die: Children of Rain. It has left only a handful of survivors hanging on. But humanity gets one final chance when the Rainmaker, an Eldritch Divinity, gives everyone a brutal ultimatum. Recover its sacred idols hidden deep inside the Abyssal Pool within 40 days, or watch humanity disappear forever in the final Flood.

So, your group of survivors is camped on the last scraps of land still above water. Surviving means constantly bouncing between two very different jobs. On the surface, you’re rebuilding your camp, assigning people to important jobs, crafting and upgrading diving equipment, and trying to make sure everyone stays alive.

Then you dive. You explore drowned ruins filled with lost idols, mutated monsters, and eldritch horrors hiding in the darkness. Oxygen is constantly running out, injuries pile up, and your sanity can slowly fall apart.

In Dive or Die: Children of Rain, death is permanent, sacrifices are inevitable, and nobody is guaranteed to make it through. You have to manage everyone’s health and sanity while deciding who stays behind, who goes diving, and, eventually, who dies.

So, you get only 40 in-game days to satisfy the Rainmaker. And if constantly racing against that deadline isn’t your thing, there’s another option. Endless Mode removes the countdown to the Flood entirely and lets you explore the drowned world at your own pace.

Dive or Die: Children of Rain is now available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It costs $17.99, and there’s a 20% launch discount running for the first two weeks.
