Digital Chocolate has teamed up with social network platform solution OpenFeint to make the game developer’s first “freemium” title, Fantasy Warrior Legends, a truly social experience. The game launched today and is available for free for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Using OpenFeint’s social platform, players of Fantasy Warrior Legends will be able to post scores on leaderboards, track their progress, join in on live forums and chat with other players, and purchase items through an in-game store.
Aurora Feint Founder and CEO Jason Citron called OpenFeint, which boasts a community of more than 17 million players, the perfect platform to launch a social role-playing game (RPG).
“Players expect to have an in-game economy where they buy and sell all sorts of items to use as part of playing the game, so the notion of virtual currency is expected and well understood by most RPG players,” Citron told Gamezebo. “Extending the economy to include in-app purchase for the really cool premium items fits well with the expectations of the genre.”
Fantasy Warrior Legends is the fourth Digital Chocolate title to launch with OpenFeint support but is the first title that the company is offering for free.
In Fantasy Warrior Legends, players can play as Rento and continue a journey to confront and destroy the evil Demon Lord. Created specifically to take full advantage of the iPhone and iPod touch, players will be able to use the Multi-touch feature to navigate and fight monsters by touching or tapping the on screen controls.
OpenFeint will be featuring Fantasy Warrior Legends on FreeGameoftheDay.com on Sunday, April 11, 2010. During this promotion, users will be able to download 400 in-game gems for free to enhance the action-adventure gameplay.
Fantasy Warrior Legends can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch.
