Developer ZeptoLab has launched a brand new version of mobile favorite Cut the Rope: a free-to-play HTML5 edition that’s playable in your web browser.

The Russian game developer teamed with Microsoft to create the new version of the game as a showcase for the latest edition of the Internet Explorer browser, though it appears to be playable in other browsers as well (it worked just fine in Chrome for us). You can play the game here.

You can also find out more about the nitty gritty of the development process thanks to both the video above and a lengthy blog post on the game’s site, which outlines the process of taking a mobile game and bringing it to a browser.

Whether or not we can expect more HTML5 games from ZeptoLab remains to be seen, but it appears to be fairly likely.

“Stay tuned, this is just the beginning,” the developer said in the blog post. “More surprises to come!”
