Countdown to the Zeebys: Sally’s Salon

Sally’s Salon is in the running for Best Time Management Game and Best Game of 2007 at the upcoming Zeeby Awards. We chatted with developer GamesCafe about what makes Sally’s Salon special and why it deserves to get your vote.

Can you give us insights or fun facts about the development of this game?

• Sally’s Salon’s game designer is in fact bald.
• Sally’s Salon originally had a bunch of crazy services including moustache waxing.
• The Sally character was inspired by Lisa Loeb and her cat-eye glasses.
• Originally, the hair-dryer-station, if left on would start smoking and our testers panicked. We lost the game-flow, because they were so worried about their customer’s hair catching on fire!
• Most major design decisions were made at lunch time eating a bowl Ph?

What makes Sally’s Salon special, and why should people vote for it?

Everyone here at GamesCafe pours their entire being into their projects. The Sally team worked extremely hard to go the extra mile in terms of polishing and refining Sally’s Salon. We really believe from the emails that we received from our fans that it really paid off. We hope that more people give Sally’s Salon a try as we look forward to put smiles one everyone’s faces!

Besides your own game of course, what other games impressed you in 2007?

It’s funny, last year at Casual Connect we were at the MumboJumbo party and a few of us from GamesCafe had a nice talk with a couple of the guys over at HipSoft. At the time, neither Sally’s Salon nor Build-a-lot had been released but just weeks later both games became #1 hits! Everyone here at GamesCafe really loved Build-a-lot and we all played it to death. Also, we’ll be sure to track down the HipSoft guys this year to ensure the good karma keeps flowing.

If you win a Zeeby, how do you plan to celebrate (aside for going to Disneyworld, of course)?

If a Zeeby at all resembles a cup, we’ll drink Champaign from it whilst getting haircuts, manicures, pedicures, massages and facials.

Any final words for your fans?

Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Your emails have given us full hearts and we promise to continue to go that extra mile. With all the fan support we have been given we hope it shows in the sequel; Sally’s Spa. Why not try that too, it’s time to Relax & Refresh!
