Cake Mania 2 is in the running for Best Time Management Game and Best Game of 2007 at the upcoming Zeeby Awards. We chatted with Daniel Bernstein, Founder & CEO of Sandlot Games, about what makes Cake Mania 2 special and why it deserves to get your vote.

Can you give us insights or fun facts about the development of this game?

We wanted to continue Jill’s story as a narrative launching off where Cake Mania 1 Back to the Bakery ended. We wanted her to grow not only as a career woman but also as an individual. While in the first game she saved her Grandparents’ bakery, we wanted to portray Jill chronologically as a successful businesswoman and a little bit older in Cake Mania 2, ready to help her friends.

We also took the bold step of having a branching storyline, having our customers pick how they want Jill’s life to progress through the game. This turned out to be a nice twist in the storytelling.

What makes Cake Mania 2 so special, and why should people vote for it?

Cake Mania 2
introduced new features to the original game, a non-linear storyline, an immense amount of content with 204 levels and 6 possible endings. And more importantly, it is a highly polished and worthy sequel to the original game.

Besides your own game of course, what other games impressed you in 2007?

HipSoft’s Build-A-Lot is a great game that is groundbreaking on many different levels. I enjoy seeing innovation in the casual games space. I am also a big fan of Dream Chronicles.

If you win a Zeeby, how do you plan to celebrate (aside for going to Disneyworld, of course)?

By working harder to make sure Cake Mania 3 is an even better experience.

Any final words for your fans?

If you are a fan of Jill Evans and Cake Mania, we really won’t disappoint with Cake Mania 3, coming later this summer. We’ve pulled out all the stops on this title, so we know our fans will enjoy Jill’s next adventure.
