Bloons is in the running for Best Web Game of 2007 at the upcoming Zeeby Awards. We chatted with Chris and Stephen of Ninja Kiwi about what makes Bloons special and why it deserves to get your vote.

Can you give us insights or fun facts about the development of this game?

Chris: The monkey was drawn in 5 minutes.

Stephen: When asked the question: "what would make a fun game?" my wife replied "Popping balloons with a dart". Within 2 hours I had a working prototype.

What makes Bloons special, and why should people vote for it?

Chris: Bloons is an absolute no-brainer to start playing and yet the scope for complex levels is huge. There are fanatics on our community sites that can make levels that none of the Ninja Kiwi team can pass. Our own mum is an addict from day 1. The audience is very broad.

Stephen: I think we hit on something primal thats just fundamentally fun.

Besides your own game of course, what other games impressed you in 2007?

Chris: My personal favourites would be Winter Bells by Ferry Halim and Fancy Pants Adventures by Brad Bird. Both games though vastly different have great replay value.

Stephen: Flash Element TD is just awesomely fun – but it might be 2006.

If you win a Zeeby, how do you plan to celebrate (aside for going to Disneyworld, of course)?

Chris: We’ve promised all our staff firm handshakes.

Stephen: I will be participating in neither firm handshakes nor Disneyworld.

Any final words for your fans?

Chris: Thanks for all the messages of support and encouragement over the past year, and we certainly hope to deliver a bunch more games over the next few months so keep your eyes peeled!

Stephen: Thanks for playing everyone!
