Aurora Feint, the company behind the popular mobile social gaming network OpenFeint, has just received a strategic minority equity investment from Chinese game developer The9 Limited.

While the investment amount remains undisclosed, a recent press release from Aurora Feint confirms that the funds will help fuel the company’s expansion to the Android platform. This isn’t the first time that Aurora Feint has seen investment from the Asian market, as DeNA (the Japanese company that recently entered into a social gaming partnership with Yahoo! JAPAN) had purchased a 20% stake in the company late last year.

Mr. Jun Zhu, The9’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We are confident of the prospect for this mobile platform and believe it will play an important role in the future development of global mobile internet. The investment in Aurora Feint is an important step of The9’s establishment of a mobile gaming platform and is also an integral part of our global strategy.”

Between this additional investment, the inclusion of Android, and the imminent launch of OpenFeint X, 2010 has been a busy year for Aurora Feint. It should be interesting to see the twists and turns this platform takes during the second half of 2010 when Apple Game Center arrives.
