Call of Duty goes mobile with Call of Duty: Strike Team

We all knew it was only a matter of time before a legit Call of Duty game found its way to mobile devices, and it looks like that time is finally here, as in a pretty surprising move this morning (given the complete lack of news that the game was even inexistence), Activision quietly sneaked Call of Duty: Strike Team onto the App Store. Strike Team is said to feature both an originally crafted single-player campaign mode, as well as a survival mode that finds players fending off waves of increasingly difficult enemies in order to compete with their friends on the online leaderboards.

Now the interesting thing about this game is that players will be able to switch between first- and third-person perspectives at any point during the gameplay. The former segments will more closely resemble traditional Call of Duty run-and-gun fare, while the latter (and certainly a first for the series) will allow players to view a better scope of the field and strategically dish out commands to their fellow A.I. squad members.

Call of Duty: Strike Team is available for download right now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad at the running price of $6.99. And if you decide to try your hand at all of the exhilarating touchscreen shooting this week, be sure to let us know what you think about the FPS powerhouse series’ first real foray onto the mobile barracks down in the replies!
