A new release from Beyond Good And Evil? Color us excited! No, sadly it’s not Beyond Good And Evil 2, though we still cling to hope. Instead, we’ve got something that’s still pretty interesting. The Beyond Good And Evil 20th Anniversary Edition has now been officially announced for release early next year. The surprising thing is, it wasn’t supposed to be.

As confirmed by the official Beyond Good And Evil Facebook page, there was a bit of a screw-up. A mistake on the part of Ubisoft meant that the current build Beyond Good And Evil Anniversary Edition accidentally went out to several Ubisoft+ subscribers. Lucky them!

A Surprise Announcement, Most Surprising For Ubisoft

While Ubisoft maintains that what these subscribers experienced was not entirely reflective of their intentions for the end product, it did force them to come out with the announcement ahead of time. As you might expect from something begrudgingly let out, info is thin on the ground right now but keep an eye out. It’s just nice to see this overlooked franchise getting some of the love it deserves.

Beyond Good And Evil follows Jade, a photojournalist on the sci-fi world of Hillys, where humans live alongside animal-human hybrids. All isn’t peaceful on this small mining planet. Dangerous alien invaders known as The DomZ constantly plague its inhabitants. The powerful mercenary group, the Alpha Sections came to the planet, claiming to be there to defend against the DomZ.

There’s something that’s not quite right though, and Jade along with her pig-man hybrid uncle Pey’j head into the Alpha Section facilities to try and determine the truth, armed only with their wits, a camera, and Jade’s skill with a staff.

It’s gripping stuff.
