Ever wanted to be in the Berserk universe? I’m not sure if I’d want to be in a world where the Egg of the King and the God Hand actually exist. Well, now you can… sort of! There’s a neat fanmade project called Berserk Survivor that’s well worth a try if you’re a fan of Kentaro Miura’s legendary series.

If you’d like to try Berserk Survivor, you can do so by visiting the game’s official Itch.io page where you can download the game for free!

The Berserk Survivor Gameplay

In its simplest form, Berserk Survivor is an area game that features hack ‘n’ slash combat as you swing the Dragon Slayer sword to destroy the hordes of demons. In fact, you can play as the different versions of Guts from 8 arcs of the manga, allowing you to opt for your favourite. Don’t expect dull combat either, with a terrifyingly powerful Beast Mode that can be unleashed by utilising the iconic Berserker Armor.

You can even assign Puck as your partner, making this a 10/10 game for me already. Or, you can choose Schierke, which is also a good choice. There are 8 perks to select from before you head into the arena, as well as 4 varying swords.

No Monetary Gain

As Berserk Survivor is a non-profit game made by a solo developer, the character builds and overall combat is extremely fun. Who wouldn’t want to be as strong as Guts? A man who can literally wield a sword of any weight while fending off an army of foes.

On top of the hack ‘n’ slash action, there are challenges to work through too! Completing these challenges will reward you with an in-game currency that can be used to purchase new items in the store – it’s important to note that the store function doesn’t require any real money transactions, it’s all purely based in-game!

I hope the game will receive more updates in the future, as I do think it’s a really unique and cool concept. I’m all for video games based on my favourite franchises, and it’s been a while since we’ve gotten a new Berserk one!
