Baking Life to shut down at the end of January

Popcap Games has announced that on January 31 Facebook restaurant game Baking Life will be shut down for good.

According to tracking service AppData, Baking Life currently has 750,000 monthly active users and 100,000 daily active users. At its peak, the game had 6.7 million MAU.

“Unfortunately, we had to make a very difficult decision to shut down the game,” Popcap told Inside Social Games. “The Baking Life player numbers have dropped in such a way that Baking Life is no longer performing well enough to justify continued support. As such, we are reallocating resources to games that we are developing for future release.”

Popcap acquired Baking Life developer Zip Zap Play last April. At the time of the acquisitions, the game Happy Habitat was also shut down.
