The website for the Los Angeles Times is now home to more than two dozen games courtesy developer Arkadium, including hits like Mahjongg Dimensions and newspaper staples like sudoku and crossword puzzles.

The games are playable at latimes.com/games, and include a variety of word, puzzle, and card games. The Times currently has more than 17 million readers each month and hopes that the new partnership will offer a more “robust gaming experience” for that large community.

“Given the ever-rising popularity of casual games, adding Arkadium’s titles allows us to further engage latimes.com’s users and entice previously untapped gaming enthusiasts to visit our site throughout the day,” said Jennifer Collins, VP of digital revenue products for The Times. “We are also creating a previously unavailable opportunity for our advertisers to reach Southern California’s casual gaming audience and in the process establish another digital monetization platform.”

In addition to playing the games, users can also share their game results thanks to the integration of social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

“We’re excited about extending the availability of our wide array of games to the millions of Times online readers,” added Arkadium president Jessica Rovello.
