Ancients Reborn offers a MMORPG experience that feels familiar yet fresh

Developer Xisle Games Limited have released Ancients Reborn on mobile, and it’s a title you’ll want to get involved with – even if you’re a rookie when it comes to the MMORPG genre.

MMORPGs can often be a little scary for new players, but that’s not a problem with Ancients Reborn. It’s a game that embraces old tropes but also makes sure everyone is catered for.

You first create a character (dragon hunter or merchant) then you’re thrown into an impressively huge open 3D world. Boasting visuals that get the job done and run at a smooth framerate, this is a game that’s pleasingly old school in how it’s presented – and it plays on this to offer a slick streamlined experience.

The experience revolves primarily around besting massive bosses (including, naturally, dragons) and exploring a range of dungeons.

You can do this on your own, or preferably with friends. And the latter won’t be hard to find, as Ancients Reborn boasts possibly the friendliest set of players we’ve ever encountered in an MMORPG.

You won’t find many unpleasant characters here, which is another reason players new and old to the genre should have nothing to fear when giving the game a try. There are global leaderboards available for those who do need to prove their skills though of course.

Another useful feature is the fact that you can set skill tasks to run while you are offline. You can hire workers to mine ore, fish, and chop trees – which can be crafted to create useful items when you finally do manage to get back online.

What makes this even more impressive is that Xisle Games Limited are an indie developer, yet have created something that feels like it’s been created by a massive team. It’s committed to improving the game constantly too, with updates constantly tweaking and improving everything from item stats to recovery systems.

Ancients Reborn is available on Google Play and the App Store for free now, and there’s even a friendly Discord community for the game.
