Despite Apple’s recent announcement of their Game Center social gaming platform, OpenFeint are still going strong on the iPhone and forging relationships with new partners on a regular basis. The latest of these partnerships, announced only moments ago, is with the critically-acclaimed publishing giant Capcom.
Despite Apple’s recent announcement of their Game Center social gaming platform, OpenFeint are still going strong on the iPhone and forging relationships with new partners on a regular basis. The latest of these partnerships, announced only moments ago, is with the critically-acclaimed publishing giant Capcom.
“Capcom Interactive has been evaluating the online mobile gaming space for quite some time now and we think that OpenFeint has a great social games platform,” said Manabu Seko, Head of Americas and EMEA Studio, Capcom Interactive, Inc. “We look forward to taking advantage of OpenFeint’s social, gaming and marketing features to reach their 21 million players.”
The first games to take advantage of this new partnership are Hatchlings and Dark Void Zero. Hatchlings, a new puzzle game that launched yesterday, has yet to receive the update that will add OpenFeint functionality as of this writing. Dark Void Zero, on the other hand, has been patched to offer OpenFeint’s online leaderboards and an assortment of 30 achievements to unlock.
“We’re excited to help bring Capcom’s first OpenFeint-enabled games to our online gaming platform,” said Jason Citron, CEO and founder of Aurora Feint. “Dark Void Zero and Hatchlings are great online games and we look forward to working with great publishers and developers like Capcom in the future to integrate key components of our OpenFeint X platform social gaming services like virtual goods.”
While neither Capcom nor OpenFeint have confirmed which other titles may get the OpenFeint treatment, with a few dozen games on the AppStore already we’d love to see bring their newly found social spirit to some of their earlier iPhone releases.
