Zynga Slingo Preview

While social games fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Facebook’s Zynga Bingo, Zynga has been quietly cooking up a new title behind the scenes that, though it may rhyme with bingo and draw a little inspiration from bingo, definitely isn’t bingo. Zynga Slingo brings a casual classic to Facebook

While social games fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Facebook’s Zynga Bingo, Zynga has been quietly cooking up a new title behind the scenes that, though it may rhyme with bingo and draw a little inspiration from bingo, definitely isn’t bingo. That’s right – Zynga is bringing the Slingo franchise social in Zynga Slingo.

Like in classic Slingo, players will be presented with a bingo-style board filled with numbers, and will “spin” in slot machine style to figure out which numbers to mark off the card. Fans of the Slingo series will be delighted to know that plenty of what they already love, from the gameplay to the existing stable of characters (Joker, Cherub, Devil) will all be making a return in Zynga Slingo – but the big Z are also putting a bit of their own flavor on the game, too. Expect social elements like the “Friend Joker” that will let bring up the faces of one of you friends and let them make a free match for you, leaderboards, friend challenges, power-ups, and more.

Slingo has been a leader in the casual game space for over 15 years, and our partnership with Zynga will bring the Slingo brand to a whole new audience in a fresh, new way,” said Rich Roberts, CEO of Slingo, Inc. “We are excited to partner with the world’s leading social game developer to deliver the social experience Slingo fans across the world have asked for.”

It’s also worth noting that, with the exception of the Indiana Jones branding in Adventure World or the occasional limited-time partnerships with the likes of 7-Eleven and Lady Gaga, this is Zynga’s first notable case of licensing – at least in the case of licensing an existing game franchise for social distribution.

“With Zynga Slingo, as well our recent games like Zynga Bingo and Hidden Chronicles, we’re introducing fun and social twists on familiar favorites,” said Rich Sawel, product manager of Zynga Slingo. “Slingo is one of the earliest and most cherished games of the Internet, and we’re proud to bring it to our players and make it even more fun and social than ever before.”

Can’t wait to try Zynga Slingo yourself? You don’t have to. The game is available to play on Facebook starting today!
