Snoopy’s Street Fair Preview

While the rest of the freemium gaming world anxiously awaits the November 17th release of Snoopy’s Street Fair, Canadian gamers have been given a bit of early access while Beeline Interactive works the kinks out (or so we assume – maybe they just really like Canada). We recently had a chance to jump into the Canadian pre-release of the game, and were more than pleased with what we found.

Gamezebo goes hands-on with Snoopy’s Street Fair

While the rest of the freemium gaming world anxiously awaits the November 17th release of Snoopy’s Street Fair, Canadian gamers have been given a bit of early access while Beeline Interactive works the kinks out (or so we assume – maybe they just really like Canada). We recently had a chance to jump into the Canadian pre-release of the game, and were more than pleased with what we found.

While the past year has seen a number of releases from Capcom’s casual brand Beeline Interactive (Zombie Cafe, Monster Pet Shop, Dream Park), they haven’t quite had a hit as big as Smurfs’ Village – but after a few days with the Peanuts gang, I can’t help but feel that’s about to change.

Snoopy's Street Fair

As you might have expected if you’d read our earlier previews, the game focuses largely on setting up stalls at a street fair that you’ll tap on every so often to collect earnings from. It’s a fairly basic freemium trope, but it works. What we didn’t expect, however, was how much cool content was packed in around the core gameplay. Players will be earn classic Peanuts comic strips to read, send greeting cards to friends and family, and even take snapshots of themselves with their favourite characters.

We’re also delighted to report that the game is dripping with Peanuts personality. The melancholy wit of Charlie Brown, art assets that perfectly reflect the world of Schulz – even the kite-eating tree – it’s all found in Snoopy’s Street Fair.

Excited to get your hands on it yourself? We don’t blame you. Be sure to check back here when the game launches worldwide on November 17th for our full review.

First video of Snoopy’s Street Fair arrives

It’s been awhile since Beeline Interactive has released any new info about their upcoming mobile social game Snoopy’s Street Fair, but this week they’ve quietly launched a gameplay trailer to their YouTube channel. And while the trailer doesn’t really show us anything we haven’t seen before, it’s at least nice to see some of it in action.

The biggest surprise to come out of this video is how top notch the voice acting is. Sure we only here a few clips, but the voices sound uncannily like the classic Peanuts cartoons of the 1960’s. This is significant because, unlike most cartoons with adult actors whose voices don’t change, Peanuts cartoons have always employed an age appropriate cast. If you grew up in the eighties, you’re no doubt familiar with the lowest point in Peanuts gang voice work. So to find some youngsters nowadays who sound so close to the original cartoon line-up is a wonderful surprise.

Expect this one to hit the App Store sometime next month.

Snoopy’s Street Fair coming this November

A little over a month ago, Beeline Interactive – the folks behind the mega-popular Smurfs’ Village – announced they had acquired permission to create a social mobile game based on the Peanuts franchise. Today, they’ve finally revealed some of the details of Charlie Brown’s first foray into mobile gaming. It turns out the Peanuts gang needs to raise funds to get new baseball uniforms, and they’re going to set up a street fair to do it.

Snoopy’s Street Fair will put players in the zigzagged yellow shirt of Charlie Brown as he attempts to organize this fair by convincing his friends to set up different stalls that can draw a profit. Making great use of the Peanuts licensing, you can expect to see things like Lucy’s Psychiatrist Booth (still only 5 cents a visit!), or a pumpkin pie booth run by Linus, the sole believer in the Great Pumpkin. In addition to nods such as these to Peanuts moments of the past, the game will feature the theme music from the animated specials, official voice talent, and – judging by the screenshots released today – spot on depictions of all your favourite characters.

In traditional Snoopy fashion, the little beagle won’t have his own booth, but will instead be off doing his own thing in a variety of silly ways. Luckily, these moments will have a certain degree of impact on the experience, as well as trigger mini-games. Artist Snoopy, for example, may redesign booths and trigger a color mixing game, while Beagle Scout Snoopy will collect marshmallows and then use them in a roasting mini-game.

Can’t wait to set up your own stall alongside the Peanuts gang? Expect this one to hit mobile devices this November.
