Slices is another one of those simple to grasp but tricky to master titles that’s gaining a lot of fans on both iOS and Android devices. It asks you to tap circles to place slices and subsequently complete and blow them up.

You may find yourself struggling to slice as efficiently as you’d like though. But don’t worry! Just follow the tips and tricks below and you’ll be slicing your way through the game in no time at all.

  • Don’t leave holes A key tip for doing well in Slices is to make sure that you don’t leave two holes between slices that are placed on the same board. There are groups of one to three slices that come up and appear on the next slice section of the screen. So place single slices next to each other whenever possible.
  • Slice and dice If you can’t place single slices next to each other then put it on a new board – unless there’s no other single slices you can put it next to.
  • Back to the start You can’t go back to past stages, but if you’re really stuck then you may want to reinstall the game and go through the levels again – this could well give you the momentum to get past the stage that’s giving you grief.
  • Video ads Watching video ads is a huge annoyance. Nobody wants to do it, and in an idea world you wouldn’t have to. However Slices is another game where it does make it worthwhile to watch those ads, especially if you’re struggling in a particular level. You are given the chance to resume with the progress you’ve made by watching an ad. This is worthwhile as your current and next piece will change once you’ve watched the advert – and this can significantly alter whether you can complete a stage or not.
  • Random rage Due to the random way you’re given pieces often the game often doesn’t give you the segments you require to complete a stage. Don’t let this get to you though – just take a deep breath and try again.
  • Watch the timer Taking your time is all well and good, and it’s certainly encouraged when you’re starting out to get to grips with the game. But be aware that in later stages you don’t always have as much time as you think.
  • Circle clear Bear in mind that once you clear out a circle all the pieces disappear from it – but so do all the pieces from the circles either side of it. Use this to your advantage.
  • Rack up the points One way you can use this to your advantage is making sure the other circles next to the one you’re about to clear are stacked with pieces – or have become problematic to get rid of. That way you can either gain more points, or get rid of a circle that was giving you a headache.
  • Restarting Just starting a level fresh isn’t the end of the world – it can often help you get into a better flow and give you a great chance of completing a stage by approaching it in a slightly different way. Moves you make early on can often have significant repercussions later on after all.
