Sailing Era Characters Guide

Here we’ll outline the four captains available to you at the start of the game and what they have to offer.

Abdullah

A pearl fisher from Bahrain whose team has gained a good reputation. He wants to improve the lives of his fellow pearl pickers with a big score.

  • Skilled Fighter – Increased XP gained from battles.
  • Ship Seizing Tactics – This lets you recruit ships that have surrendered.
  • Loot – Increased supplies gained when plundering a ship.

Andrew

A cheery young sailor from Portugal, Andrew has set out to follow his dream of owning his own fleet.

  • Adventurous Spirit – Increased XP gained from sailing.
  • Innate Leader – Reduced amount of XP required for upgrading characters at a lower level than Andrew.
  • Route Pathfinder – Discovering new ports grants local contribution.

Yoshitaka Shizuma

A shipwright born in Kyushu, Japan. His family’s fortunes have faded in recent times, but in securing a lucrative partnership with the Nagasaki daimyo, Yoshitaka hopes to protect those close to him.

  • Prestigious Shipbuilder – Gives XP when shipbuilding.
  • Cats At Hand – Cats on boards protect you from rat infestations.
  • Craftsmanship Knowledge – Increases trade profits for industrial products.
  • Nature Surpassing – Ship cabins can be freely modified.

Yun Mu

A scholar from Zhangzhou, Ming China, Yun Mu is an expert in foreign languages. She hopes to study trade routes and goods across the world.

  • Scholar – Increased XP gained from discoveries.
  • Analogist – Lower requirements for interpreting books.
  • Picky Shopping – Increased profits for goods based on the knowledge accumulated about them

Choosing a captain, or trying a new one is a simple enough process. You will need to start a new game of Sailing Era, or begin a new save. You will then be presented with a map with four small figures standing at different locations. Pick one of these to see the character and their traits. If you like the look of a character, hit space to select them.

Sailing Era is a sailing RPG that lets you run your own ship and explore the high seas. Select your captain and set out to discover more than two-hundred ports, get to grips with trade, and face naval and ship-boarding combat.
