Riven: The Sequel to Myst now available for iPad

Excellent news, adventure fans! An iPad-optimized version of Riven: The Sequel to Myst has just popped up on the iOS App Store. Now, I don’t want to blow anyone’s mind or anything, but there’s one very important detail the game’s name fails to make clear: this is the sequel to Myst. Pretty crazy, right?

Excellent news, adventure fans! An iPad-optimized version of Riven: The Sequel to Myst has just popped up on the iOS App Store. Now, I don’t want to blow anyone’s mind or anything, but there’s one very important detail the game’s name fails to make clear: this is the sequel to Myst. Pretty crazy, right?

Myst probably holds a special place in a lot of your hearts. Or maybe you just remember it as a stupid-hard adventure game about an island covered with obtuse puzzles. Neither would surprise me, really, and I fall somewhere in the middle. I first played the game on the Sega Saturn, and while I enjoyed my time with it, I never managed to actually finish it.

Riven begins directly where Myst ends, and it invites players to solve a series of puzzles across five different islands. Think you have what it takes to handle that level of islandry? Is “islandry” even a word? I can answer the second question (no, it’s not), but only you can answer the first.

And while we’re on the topic, I have to confess that I’ve never actually had the chance to play Riven. I have every intention of fixing that now, though. What about everyone else?
