Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion Preview

While I’m sure I’ve heard it used a thousand times before, I decided to look up the word “scourge” to find out exactly what the heck it means. Though I’m still not completely clear, I know now it has something to do with someone or something inflicting or administering punishment, possibly via a whip. Sounds…unpleasant. I guess the place known as “Estellion” in the upcoming iOS strategy game Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion is in for it. I wonder what it did to deserve the wrong end of a scourge…

Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion looks to bring mix strategy and touch screens later this week

Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion looks to bring everything that’s big about strategy games and make it fun and accessible on your little, trusty iOS device. Fancy art, full dialogue and a movie-quality score all help tell the tale of four different nations in the world known as Eclisse. The Ravenmark saga is going to be broken up into different campaigns that focus on one nation at a time and in this first installment you’ll find out this empire of the raven.

Originally conceived as a tabletop game, Ravenmark‘s gameplay is built on the principle that battles should be quick, fun and easily scalable. Battles are turn-based, where the player presets all of his battalion to take on any formation they choose with their actions being played out in an order determined by the unit itself. The game looks like a PC-based RTS, but plays simply since it was built with touch devices and the needs of the mobile gamer in mind.

Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion looks to bring a hefty amount of game to a tiny little system, and they just might have found a way to do it with a lot of style and skill. Find out if they pull it off when the game launches later this week on November 11th.
