With all the buzz around the upcoming Prince of Persia motion picture, Ubisoft has been geared up to tie in as many video game releases as it can. The new Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands released on multiple consoles yesterday, a port of 2004’s Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within should be on the iPhone by the end of the month, and now word has leaked out that the 1989 classic that started it all will be heading to the iPhone before the end of June.

A schedule for upcoming games was included as part of UbiSoft’s recently released 2009-10 financial results. Included on that schedule was a little game that had previously been unannounced for the iPhone called Prince of Persia Classic. Fans of the series will likely recognize the title, as it was attached to a 2007 remake of the original game that appeared on Xbox Live Arcade.

Considering that the Xbox Live version of Prince of Persia Classic was produced by Gameloft, a mainstay of iPhone development founded by the same brothers who run Ubisoft, it seems pretty likely that the name is more than a coincidence. Players can expect to get their hands on the iPhone build of this 2D classic before the end of June.
