Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy

If you like your games to be of the spine-tingling variety, then you’ll want to pay attention to Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy. What could be creepier than exploring the eerie grounds of a condemned, abandoned insane asylum… only to find that it’s not quite so abandoned after all? The game’s tagline says it all: “If the Asylum walls could talk…they would scream!”

 Asylum Conspiracy

Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy, from Toronto developer Vast Studios, is the prequel to Nightfall Mysteries: Curse of the Opera. Set five years earlier, the hidden object adventure game centers on the story of Christine, a young woman who was orphaned as a child and who travels to the Ashburg Asylum in search of her Grandfather, her only living relative. The asylum, located Alcatraz-like on a desolate island, is supposedly abandoned, but Christine soon discovers that something quite sinister has been going on there.

 Asylum Conspiracy

Gameplay-wise, Asylum Conspiracy is more adventure than HOG, in the tradition of games like Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst and Dire Grove. After arriving at the island by boat, you can move freely around the grounds and inside the asylum itself, picking up useful objects that get added to your inventory and can be used to solve puzzles and reveal more areas to explore. Sparkling areas can be zoomed in on for a hidden object search where you’ll find a list of random items plus one key item that gets added to your inventory. Finally, there are collectible audio tapes scattered throughout the game that you can play to reveal secrets of the asylum’s past.

 Asylum Conspiracy

The developer says that Asylum Conspiracy will offer at least six hours of gameplay. You’ll also uncover events that lead to Curse of the Opera. The Collector’s Edition will feature access to new areas of the asylum, unlockable bonus content, achievements, an in-game strategy guide, and a downloadable soundtrack.

Nightfall Mytseries: Asylum Conspiracy will launch for Windows and Mac.
