Why swap two gems when you could just slide the entire row? That’s the premise behind Line Up Tiles, a free game that has managed to eat up more of my free time this month than I’m willing to admit.

With a simple slide of their finger, players will move rows and columns in an attempt to make as many matches as they can. The game has just three modes (a timed mode, an “endless” mode where you try to feed the clock, and a mode that limits the number of moves you can make), making Line Up Tiles about as minimalist as you can get.

If you’re a fan of quick-play mobile games, that’s not a bad thing.

It’s too simple and brilliant to have not been thought of before, but I’ll be damned if I can name another game that does this.

This one is “free” free as well. It’s ad-supported with no in-app purchases. If you’re looking for a clever little bite-sized match-3 with a fresh twist, be sure to grab it on the App Store.
