Game Introduction – Legend of the Cryptids
Legend of the Cryptids is a card-based fighting game developed by Applibot. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.
Quick Start Guide
Quick Start Guide
- To download the game, click the “Play Now” button at the top of this page.
- Once downloaded, click the “play” button
- That’s it! You’re ready to start the game!
How to Play
- Creating Username: When you first boot up Legend of the Cryptids it will ask you to create a username. You won’t have to login every time you launch the game—this is simply your outward facing name to all the other Cryptid players.
- Elements: Legend of the Cryptids uses various elements, much like you would see in a Magic: The Gathering card game. You can select water, fire, or forest. Elements have particular attributes that will confer advantages based on your style of play.
- Card Packs: Completing quests and winning battles against real opponents will earn you “Friendship Points”. For every 200 Friendship Points that you earn in the game, you are eligible to get a card pack, which amounts to one card. Every day that you log into the game, you are awarded 400 Friendship Points, or two cards.
- Questing/Battling: To receive cards and awards outside of the free friendship points, you will have to complete quests. There are really only three things that you’ll have to focus on. In the above screenshot you can see the card that I have chosen to fight the baddies, which is handled prior to beginning the quest. From there, you’ll notice the energy, experience and progress.
- Energy: Much like every other freemium game out there, you’ll have an energy bar of some sort. Every attack that you make will drain a certain amount of energy from you. Once energy is depleted, you will either have to wait for it to recharge (which it does fairly quickly), or purchase energy drinks to get back into the action immediately.
- Experience: This bar is simply to show you your progress on your next level.
- Progress: This bar will show you how far along you are in your quest. After completing a few of these battles you will typically face off against a boss.
- Quest Common Battles: In quest common battles, which is the one you see in the above screenshot, there is not anything to be concerned about. See the tap button? You tap that for however many enemies there are on the screen and then you move on. The only roadblock is energy.
- Battle Rewards: For each quest battle that you win, you will earn a new card, coins, items that enhances your character, or some combination thereof.
- Card Evolution: Between your card packs, quest rewards and so on, you will likely get two of the same cards at some point. Usually this would be a drag, but not in Legend of Cryptids! Instead, if you get two of the same cards, you can “evolve” the card into one much more powerful card through its card evolution system. See below—I evolved two vanilla water dragons into a “Illusionary Black Dragon”, which has a higher level than the previous two cards, with higher attack and defense power.
- Enhancing Cryptids: With enhancing Cryptids, you can simply sacrifice unneeded cards to enhance a current, more suitable Cryptid.
- Boss Battles: Boss battles are the end point of each quest. These are tougher fights, with the bosses actually able to attack you. In these fights, defense is much more of an attribute that you will want to take note of before heading in. However, when you finish off a boss, it typically will give you huge experience bonuses, as well as a treasure trove of goodies dropped (energy drinks, coins, items that enhance your cards skills).
- Summoning Friend: For each boss battle, you can summon friends of each element type that you are not. So, for example, I’m a water element fighter—so I will want to search my forest and fire friends and have them help me battle this foe. Note, you just need to add the players to your friends list. They do not need to be online to assist you in battle.
- Parameter Points: Parameter points are tied to a card and help determine how well and how long you can battle for. There are only three parameters that you can spend points on, which are displayed above. Energy defines how much energy your card has to continue fighting, while attack and defense power are self-explainable.
- Premium Packs: In order to get the really good cards, you’re simply going to have to suck it up and purchase premium packs like the one noted above. These packs contain the “rare” and “ultra” cards that will send your game to the next level.
- Gems: In order to purchase premium packs and other assorted goodies, you will have to purchase “gems”, which is the premium currency that the game has. The prices are noted above. There unfortunately are no discounts for bigger purchases.
- Battles: If you’re bored of questing, you can battle other players. Choose the battle option at the bottom of your screen to begin, select your opponent, then your cards, and get to fighting. These all come down to dice rolls and how good of a card you possess with regards to attack and defense. Winning battles earns you rewards that will help you in the next battle.
- Guild: In addition to friendships, there is a guild system. The guild acts as a backup or assistance when you attack or defend against other players.
Tips and Tricks:
- Strength in Numbers: In a game like this, it really comes down to a numbers game. You have to have a guild at your back, with better cards than your opponent, or you will lose. Straight up. The game has an in game message board that you can access via the “menu” bottom in the bottom right of the screen. Go to the message board, link up with friends and a guild, and have fun battling!
Congratulations!
