Journalistic Investigations: Stolen Inheritance – Game Introduction

General Information

From the Main Menu, click on Options to adjust Sound, Music and Ambient volumes; turn Full Screen, Hardware Cursor, Tutorial, and Mute on and off; choose Normal or Casual game modes and view the Credits.
Click on Start Game, enter your profile name and confirm your game mode and tutorial settings.
Hints recharge in 30 seconds in Casual mode and 75 seconds in Normal mode.
The Skip button charges in 30 seconds in Casual mode and 75 seconds in Normal mode.
The game automatically saves your progress in each section, however your progress in individual Searches, Tasks and Minigames will be lost if you exit to the Main Menu or Map. You will restart at the beginning of those elements.
Item Lists change each time you play, however they are often by only 1 or 2 items. If you can’t find an item, look for elements in the scene that you can open or otherwise manipulate. The cursor will change to a Hand.
Tasks and Minigames are always the same and have the same solutions. Click on items with a Magnifying Glass cursor to zoom in.
Click anywhere to progress through dialogs. You may skip cutscenes by clicking on the button at the top left.
In Object Searches, click on the “?” (question mark at the lower left) for a Hint. The number of items is shown in the icon at the lower right. Click on Menu and Map (lower left, above and below the Hint button) to access those features.
In Tasks, click on the Notepad icon (lower right) for instructions and click on More Info (within the instructions) for an Image.
In Minigames, click on the “?” for instructions; click on the Skip button (location varies) to continue without completing the Minigame.
As you progress, you will find Heirlooms to return to the Display Case. You can add them immediately, or wait and add them later.
Replay individual Searches, Tasks and Minigames by clicking on Map and choosing which you’d like to replay.
Access the Menu by clicking on Menu (bottom left) or pressing the Esc Heirloom.

Walkthrough

Watch the opening movie and then let’s begin the investigation.

Section 1

Find all the items on the list. Your list may be different.

Make a Smoothie Task: Click on the Task Instructions (cyan) and click on More Info (green) for an Image of the Task.

Collect the Strawberries (green), Blender Button (yellow), Blender Container (cyan), Lemon (magenta) and Paper Umbrella (blue). Click on the Blender Base (1) and use the Blender Button, Blender Container and Strawberries, in that order; click on the Button. Click on the Glass (2) and use the Smoothie, Lemon & Paper Umbrella, in that order.

Find all the items on the list. Your list may be different.

Set up the Record Player Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Cleaner (green) and Needle Holder (yellow). Click on the Cloth (cyan) and use the Cleaner. Click on the Record (red) and use the Cloth. Click on the Stereo (white), click on the cover and use the Needle Holder and Record.

Circuit Minigame: Click on the Connections to rotate them. Connect all the Lights (green) to the Power Source (red). You will not use all the connections. Note the Connections (cyan) you need to rotate.

Find all the items on the list. The Pocket Watch (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Pocket Watch in the Display Case.

Section 2

Differences Minigame: Find all 13 differences.

Place the Dagger in the Display Case.

Disarm Bomb Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Screwdriver (green) from under the Sofa and the Pliers (yellow) from the Bowl. Click on the Speaker (1), click again to turn it around, use the Screwdriver on each of the 4 screws and collect the Blue Wire. Click on the Bomb (2), click again to open it, use the Pliers on the Red Wire and use the Blue Wire on the Blue Connectors.

Examine Bomb and Compare Evidence Tasks: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image. You can do this for each step.

Click on the Bomb (1) and find 5 traces of Evidence (green). Use the Evidence on the Microscope (2), move the Left Slider (green) to focus the image, click on the Arrows (yellow) to compare samples in the database, use the Right Slider (cyan) to focus the image and click on Compare (red).

Dry the Envelope Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Toilet Paper (green), Hair Dryer (yellow), Knife (cyan) and Attachment (magenta). Use the Attachment on the Hairdryer (click on one, then the other), click on the Envelope (red), use the Toilet Paper and use the Knife, in that order.

Section 3

Find all the items on the list. The Egyptian Cat (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Egyptian Cat in the Display Case.

Repair Telescope Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect 2 Paper Clips (green), the Lens (yellow) and 3 Telescope Pieces (cyan). Use the Paper Clips on the Telescope Case (magenta), click to open it, use each of the Telescope Pieces in the slot and use the Lens on the Telescope.

Constellation Minigame: Click and drag each Zodiac Sign to the correct place in the Night Sky. When they are placed correctly, their stars will light up.

Find all the items on the list. The Porcelain Horseman (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Porcelain Horseman in the Display Case.

Repair the Film Task: on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Tape (green), Torn Film (yellow) and Film Reel (cyan) from the Projector (1). Use the Torn Film and Film Reel on the Mounting Table (2), use the Tape on the Torn Film and use the Repaired Film on the Projector.

Collect all the Map Pieces.

Section 4

Map Minigame: Click on each piece, move it to the correct position and click again to place it. Tip: If you organize your pieces into units (top, bottom, left and right sides and center section), then move whole units together, it’s much easier to complete.

Place the Gold Coins in the Display Case.

Repair Teddy Bear Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Thread (yellow – in the Basket), Needle (cyan – in the Toolbox), Pink Bow (green) and 5 Teddy Bear Parts (magenta – one is in the Trash Can). Combine the Needle and Thread, click on the Bear Body (blue), use all the Teddy Bear Parts, the Pink Bow and the Needle and Thread, in that order.

Match Coins Minigame: Click on pairs of matching coins to eliminate them.

Rusty Coin Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Chemical (green) and the Cotton Swabs (yellow). Click on the Coin (cyan) and use the Chemical and the Cotton Swabs, in that order.

Find all the items on the list. Your list may be different.

Section 5

Landscape Viewer Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Click on the Hot Dog Cart (1) and collect the Napkin (green), click on the Broken Viewer (2) and collect the Lens (yellow), click on the Working Viewer (3), remove the Broken Lens (cyan), use the Lens in the empty space, use the Napkin on the Dirty Lens (red) and use the Coin on the Viewer.

Find all the items on the list. The Vase (blue) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Vase in the Display Case.

Tablet PC Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Click on the Cooler (1) and collect the Cell Phone (yellow), click on the Tote Bag (2) and collect the Antenna (cyan), collect the Cord (green), click on the Tablet PC (3) and use the Cell Phone, Antenna and Cord on the Tablet.

Find all the items on the list. The Fan (yellow) is the Key Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Fan in the Display Case.

Briefcase Combination Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

k on the Paper Bag (1) and collect the Revealer Spray (yellow), use the Revealer Spray on the Notebook (2), collect the Top Page (cyan), use the Notebook Page on the Candle (3), click on the Briefcase (4), enter the Combinations (click on each of the dials) and press the Buttons (red).

Place the Jewelry Box in the Display Case.

Section 6

CD Player Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Click on the Clock (1), click again to turn it around, remove the battery cover and collect the Batteries (yellow). Collect the Headphones (cyan), CD (green), click on the CD Player (2) and use the Batteries, Headphones and CD on the CD Player.

Find all the items on the list. The Stamp Collection (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Stamp Collection in the Display Case.

Microchip Minigame: Plug each Microchip into the circuit board by matching the cables on the chip with the ports on the board. The ports will light up when you’re over the correct spot.

Find all the items on the list. The Golden Clock (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Golden Clock in the Display Case.

Broken Plate Minigame: Complete the jigsaw puzzle by matching the pieces to the correct placement in the center. You will not need to rotate any pieces.

Section 7

Camera Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Click on the Blue Bag (1) and collect the New Film (yellow). Click on the White Bag (2) and collect the Camera (red). Click on the Tripod (3) and use the Camera. Click on the Camera to turn it around, click to open the cover, remove the Old Film (cyan), use the New Film and click on the cover to close it.

Find all the items on the list. The Jewelry Box (red) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Jewelry Box in the Display Case. Note: the game calls the placement location an Urn.

Find all the items on the list. The Porcelain Elephant (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Porcelain Elephant in the Display Case. Note: the game calls the placement location a Porcelain Statuette.

Puzzle Box Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the 4 Puzzle Pieces (green) and 4 Coins (yellow). Click on the Puzzle Box (cyan), place the Puzzles Pieces and Coins and collect the Negative (red).

Develop Negative Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Red Paint (green), Developer (yellow) and Spray (cyan). Use the Red Paint on the Lamp Bulb (1), use the Developer on the Tray (2) and use the Negative (red) on the Tray (3), in that order, and collect the Developed Negative (blue). Use the Developed Negative on the Clip (4) and use the Spray on the Developed Negative.

Parking Lot Puzzle: This is a series of simple “Slider” puzzles. Move the vehicles so that you can get the Red Car to the Exit. You’ll repeat this 3 times. Click on the following for the video solution.

Section 8

Find all the items on the list. Your list may be different.

Paper Analysis Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Bowl (green), Chemical (yellow), Powder (cyan), Brush (magenta) and Lighter (red). Use the Bowl on the Burner (1), use the Chemical and the Powder on the Bowl (2), in that order, and use the Lighter on the Burner (3) Use the Brush on the Bowl, click on the Paper and use the Brush.

Find all the items on the list. The Music Box (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Music Box in the Display Case.

Hair Dye Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Dictionary (green), Developer (yellow), Hair Dye (cyan), Conditioner (magenta) and Dye Brush (red). Click on the Box (1), click on the Instructions and use the Dictionary. Click on the Bowl (2) and use the Developer (a), Hair Dye (b), Conditioner (c) and Dye Brush (d), in that order.

Section 9

Floral Arrangement Minigame: Create the Floral Arrangements to match the picture shown. Click on a Vase (a), Greenery (b), Leaves (c) and Flower (d). You will complete 3 Flower Arrangements.

Extinguish Fire Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Handle (green) and Nozzle (yellow). Click on the Fire Extinguisher (1) and use the Handle and Nozzle (blue). Use the Fire Extinguisher (magenta) on the Fire (2) and collect the Porcelain Doll (cyan).

Place the Porcelain Doll in the Display Case.

Door Lock Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Broom, click on the Bulletin Board (1) and collect the Keys, click on the Drawers (2) and collect the Lock Pick. Click on the Vent (3) and use the Broom. Click on the Door (4), use the Keys in the Top Lock and use the Lock Pick in the Bottom Lock.

Section 10

Lock Pick Minigame: Move the Lock Pick and click on each tumbler. You must click on them in the correct order to unlock the door. Note the order you need to click.

Place the Footed Dish in the Display Case. Note: the game calls the placement location a Crystal Vase.

Hot Dog Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Click on the Can (1) and collect a Hot Dog (green). Collect the Ketchup (yellow) and Mustard (cyan). Click on the Fire (2) and use the Hot Dog. Click on the Bun (3); use the Roasted Hot Dog (magenta), Ketchup and Mustard.

Find all the items on the list. The Candelabrum (yellow) is the Heirloom Item. Your list may be different.

Place the Candelabrum in the Display Case.

Jeweled Bow Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Scissors (green), Jewel (yellow) and Magic Powder (cyan). Use the Scissors on the Blue Ribbon (1) and the White Ribbon (2). Use the Blue and White Ribbons (red), Jewel and Magic Powder, in that order, on the Diagram (3).

Section 11

Photo Shoot Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Back Drop (green – 1), Red Cloth (yellow), Box Cutter (cyan) and 2 Tassels (magenta). Use the Backdrop (2) and Red Cloth (3), in that order, on the Stage (red). Use the Box Cutter (4) and 2 Tassels (5), in that order, on the Red Cloth. Use the Jeweled Bow (blue) on the Jewelry Box (6).

Painting Minigame: Click on each square to rotate it and complete the picture.

Cocktail Poison Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Water Pitcher (green), Cocktail (cyan) and Pink Rose (yellow). Click on the Vase (red) and use the Water Pitcher (1), Cocktail (2) and Pink Rose (3), in that order.

Cherry Topping Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Cherries (green), Sugar (cyan), Milk (yellow) and Vanilla (blue). Click on the Pan (1), use the Cherries and Sugar and click the Stove Control (pink). Click on the Mixer (2), use the Milk, Vanilla and Cooked Cherries (orange), in that order, and click the Mixer Control (black).

Section 12

Cake Assembly Minigame: Assemble the cakes according to the Recipe picture, clicking on each element, from the list at the right, and assembling from bottom to top. You will complete 5 cakes. Note the order to click for each element.

Bomb Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the 7 Shotgun Shells (red – a), Fuse (yellow – b), Fuel (green – c), Lid (cyan – d) and Matches (pink – e). Use the Shotgun Shells, Fuse, Fuel and Lid, in that order, on the Can (1). Use the Bomb on the Door (2) and use the Matches on the Bomb.

Place the Faberge Egg in the Display Case.

If you haven’t been placing the Heirlooms in the Display Case as you’ve found them, you will be asked to do so now.

UV Light Task: Click on the Task Instructions and click on More Info for an Image.

Collect the Tape (cyan), Paper (yellow), and 3 UV Bulbs (green). Use the Tape on the Sparking Wire (1), use the Paper on the Left Lamp (2) and use the 3 UV Bulbs on each Lamp (3, 4, and 5).

Watch the Ending. Congratulations! You’ve completed Journalistic Investigations: Stolen Inheritance. You may now replay any scene you wish. Click on one of the tabs, on the right side of the Map, and click on any scene to replay it.
