The insanely popular combat strategy game from Supercell brings with it another free update this week in “Heroes,” Clash of Clan‘s first major content addition of 2013. This update introduces two new combat units into the mix, along with some minor gameplay adjustments and a few other surprises for fans of the fast-paced fantasy game.

One look at the mammoth Barbarian King in action, and you’ll see why Supercell has coined him “Bigger than a giant” and “Toughest of all Barbarians,” as he is shown demolishing a village without so much as a flinch. Conversely, the purple-haired Archer Queen is more calm and collected on the battlefield, with deadly accuracy on her X-Bow and “Great fashion sense.”

But the coolest thing about the Barbarian King and Archer Queen is that they are immortal. Yup, you read that right. These troops may fall, but they can never die in battle, and a short restorative nap will heal even their deadliest of injuries. The two new units in “Heroes” can be recruited and upgraded by using a new rare resource called Dark Elixir (also introduced in the update), which is formed from fossilized Black Dragon bones.

But wait, that’s not all! The “Heroes” update also comes with two new X-Bow upgrades; new wall upgrade levels “Spikes of Pain” and “Flaming Magma;” and a number of other tweaks and balance modifications to have your clans clashing at the optimal settings! So what are you waiting for? You can jump in on all the “Heroes” action and download Clash of Clans for free right now on the app store.
