Bloons 2 Preview

With more than a billion moments of user engagement so far, the original Bloons has seen more plays than a Shakespearean critic and a college football coach combined. And while it’s seen a few spin-offs, a popular tower defense series, and a number of fan-made player packs, the game has yet to see a true sequel. But that’s all about to change on September 24th.

Bloons 2, developed by series originator Ninja Kiwi, promises to infuse the balloon-popping fun of the original with new balloon types, power-ups, and 96 new levels. Bloons 2 will also feature a World Map that will track your progress, secret levels, and unlockables.

Players will encounter a wide variety of new bloons in Bloons 2. Included amongst them are the bees bloon that sends a swarm of deadly bees after your cursor when popped, the camoflauge bloon that can only be popped when visible, and the bloom bloon that spawns seven additional bloons for each one popped.

To battle these new bloons you’ll have a wealth of new power-ups at your disposal. Take the Monkey Ace, for example. He’ll fly into the screen aboard a World War One fighter plane, dropping deadly spikes from the sky on the pesky bloons below. The game will also let you call upon the Super Monkey if you’re having trouble completing a particular level, wiping out everything that remains on the screen.

While it hasn’t been confirmed, the cheat nature of the Super Monkey suggests that he will either need to be earned through play or purchased using MochiCoins. Regardless of how it actually susses out, you can secure yourself a free Super Monkey by signing up on the Bloons 2 teaser website prior to the game’s September 24th launch date.
