Be cunning. Be powerful. Be ready for the Brigade.

Have you ever wanted to take the team-based multiplayer madness of Team Fortress 2 with you on the go? That’s a silly question, of course you have! Well now you’re in luck, because Gameloft is about to bring us the next best thing: a free-to-play multiplayer shooter called Blitz Brigade, specifically designed for iOS and Android mobile platforms.

Inspired by the zany cartoon art style and team-based gameplay of Team Fortress 2 (right down to the Red vs. Blue team distinctions), Blitz Brigade is set in WWII, and will feature different player classes, vehicles, multiplayer game modes, and even single-player challenges. While details still remain scarce, from the looks of it, player classes could include snipers, gunners, and even a crazed aviator.

Not much else is known about Blitz Brigade right now, aside from an introductory trailer that instructs players to “be cunning, be powerful, and be there for your allies.” Of course, this propaganda is blended in with some colorful footage of a soldier smashing in an enemy’s face with a bloody shovel; a deadly sniper assassinating a decorated general straight through the eye; and a heavy gunner blowing a helicopter clean out of the sky. It looks quirky, violent, and just all-around awesome.

While we’ve yet to see any actual gameplay footage of Blitz Brigade in action, I’m curious to see if the game will be a first-person or third-person shooter, and how well it will control. But not to fear, cadet! We’ll be getting a whole battlefield worth of new information in the upcoming weeks as the game’s release date creeps up on us from the barracks. I call dibs on the crazy shovel-wielding guy!
