When it comes to seeking out the “bayside treasures” in Big City Adventure: San Francisco, the following pointers will help make the concealed stand out and the mini-games more productive.

  • Always start a level by looking for Bonus Coins. They will glint to help you locate them.
  • Save Hint and Fast Forward Coins for later levels, if possible, when objects become more difficult to find. Those you don’t use will carry forward and provide an added point bonus at the end of each level.
  • Hint Coins are limited, so use them wisely. Hold out to the last possible moment at each location before using one since the last item or two are usually the hardest to locate.
  • Time Bonus Coins can be used right before you finish a scene to receive a higher Time Bonus. You don’t need to be running short on time to use them.
  • You can only carry a maximum of five on each type of Bonus Coin. So, when you’re full up, go ahead and use a Hint Coin to finish a level early or a Time Bonus Coin to add time to the clock. It can be replenished on a succeeding level and the points accrued will offset the end-level bonus lost by “spending” the coin.
  • Select objects as quickly as you can in succession to earn a Quick Find Bonus. In other words, wait until you see several items and then select them, one after the other, as quickly as the game allows. This also works in the mini-games.
  • On occasion, one item may be hidden behind another. So, don’t get hung up trying to locate a specific item…unless it’s the last one.
  • Find the obvious objects and select them quickly. Then, look for the more obscure ones.
  • Think broadly. An arrow may be an archery arrow or an arrow on a sign. A bicycle may be a physical bicycle or a picture of a bike. And, a fish may be an actual fish, a photo of a fish or the words “fish” on a banner.
  • If you prefer a more relaxed pace, turn on Relaxed Mode from the Options Screen and time will no longer be an issue.
  • When playing the match-two-or-more mini-game, create the largest groups you can of the same object. This earns a larger Matching Bonus and increases your score. It also nets you special extras for clearing rows and columns of tiles.
  • In the memory mini-game, use Hint Coins if you need assistance finding matches. They help you locate object pairs more easily – a necessity if you’re running out of time.
  • On jigsaw puzzles, place the corner and edge pieces first. This will enable you to finish the puzzle more quickly.

Each location is visited three times, with the difficulty level of finding hidden objects increasing on each visit. The order is alphabetical, not the sequence encountered during play.
