Batman Arkham City Lockdown hits the App Store tonight

In a surprise move worthy of the Joker, Warner Bros will be sneaking a brand new Batman game onto the App Store tonight – and it’s a doozy. As the name suggests, Batman Arkham City Lockdown takes place in the same universe as the Caped Crusader’s most recent console adventure, Batman Arkham City. Though unlike the open-world nature of that title, the description is promising a series of one-on-one boss battles that Pocket Gamer are describing as “Infinity Blade-esque.”

From the official iTunes description; “The inmates have escaped and Batman has his hands full defeating an army of henchmen and some of his most iconic villains. Scour the rooftops and the seedy underbelly of Gotham City through a series of one-on-one battles with the Joker, Two-Face and more, as well as the Batman: Arkham City Lockdown exclusive – Deathstroke. Choose from several Batman skins and power-ups as you punch, kick and combo your way to cleaning up Gotham City.”

From what we can see in the screenshots, the game’s visuals should be downright jaw-dropping. Even better, they’re promising “tons of extra content” and alternate skins, showing the classicBatman: The Animated Serieslook in one of the promotional images.

The game should be out on the App Store for iPhone and iPad at 11pm EST tonight. Expect our full review soon!
