Ballistic Preview

The gaming world seems to move at incredible speeds these days, where the instant gratification of playing all the latest games the second they’re released has become a high selling point in the industry. But how many times have you bought a new release at midnight, only to anxiously wait another whole hour while the title has to download and install on your device? We already know that some of the next-gen game consoles like Sony’s PlayStation 4 plan to remedy this need of having patience, by allowing instant streaming of any game on their network while the rest of the game is being downloaded quietly in the background as you play.

Ballistic brings a fast-paced war to your web browser.

Well now even high-octane browser games have begun to take the plunge into the realm of speedier gaming, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Ballistic is an upcoming AAA-quality shooter, and the latest in line of next-generation web browser games. But the best part about it? Ballistic promises no massive downloads or lengthy installs beforehand, and the game will be completely free-to-play. That’s right, all you have to do is hop on the Internet, go to the game’s web address, and start duking it out online within seconds. This is a pretty impressive feature, especially when you take a look at the debut gameplay trailer, which boasts the power and graphical prowess of the Unity Engine, and runs about as smoothly as I’ve ever seen a full console or PC release perform.

Developed by Aquiris Game Studio and published by Rumble Entertainment, Ballistic takes place in the near future, and centers on two rivaling factions called the MFA and the Smokes, who are vying for control over a new kind of energy supply. The team-based shooter will offer multiplayer bouts across 3 different game modes, including death match, capture points, and king of the hill, and pits the factions against one another in a number of real-world locations like a luxury mall, art museum, and business park. We also get a glimpse of some of the realistic weapons you’ll be able to use in Ballistic, from shotguns, to assault rifles, to dual-wielding pistols; and different skill perks will let you further customize your loadout before jumping into the fray.

If you want to add a little more instant gratification to your upcoming Ballistic plans, you can sign up for the game’s closed beta phase on the Rumble Entertainment website, and be among the first to try the blistering new shooter when the beta gets released at some point this spring. And just remember: the second the beta opens, the second you’ll be able to play and go Ballistic all over your browser!
