Amazing Ants Preview

Ants get kind of a bum rap. Sure, they enter your home uninvited and swarm all over the food you leave out, but can you really blame them? All creatures—even insects—need to eat, and it’s not like you had any plans for that half-eaten Mentos stuck to your counter, anyway. If, like me, you’re sympathetic towards their plight, Amazing Ants is the game for you.

Is it wrong to hope that the final boss is an anteater?

Ants get kind of a bum rap. Sure, they enter your home uninvited and swarm all over the food you leave out, but can you really blame them? All creatures—even insects—need to eat, and it’s not like you had any plans for that half-eaten Mentos stuck to your counter, anyway. If, like me, you’re sympathetic towards their plight, Amazing Ants is the game for you.

Amazing Ants

The core concept of Amazing Ants is a simple one: assist a bunch of ants in their quest to gather fruit. This means granting them the gift of flight with rocket sticks, helping them tunnel underground, floating them about with the assistance of soap bubbles, and performing a bunch of other physics-based tasks. It’s unclear as to whether or not there will be any levels where you have to convince your mom not to spray the ants with Raid, but I wouldn’t rule it out completely.

It should come as no surprise that the game will feature a whopping 99 levels. Ants, after all, are constantly on the prowl for food. And don’t worry about having to slog your way through a bunch of boring areas that all look the same: Amazing Ants‘ press release promises locations like picnic baskets (naturally), rollerblades, and broken clocks. I’m pretty sure climbing a rollerblade as an ant would be the equivalent of us trying to climb a decent-sized mountain. Or maybe my sense of scale is off.
