Have you ever heard the term "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?" Asteroid Gunner is a game that takes that concept on a complete 360. Last year, Venan Entertainment wowed us with the release of Space Miner: Space Ore Bust - a game that drew heavy inspiration from the Atari classic Asteroids. Then later that year, they wowed us once more with Space Miner Blast - a freemium twist on the Space Miner formula. Asteroid Gunner, in turn, is drawing on Space Miner Blast for inspiration.

Despite a few stumbles here and there, I'm still convinced that Atari is one of those companies that's destined for mobile gaming greatness. The quick play nature of their classic catalogue make them a perfect fit, and their few unique modern titles, like I Love Strawberries and Faeries vs Darklings, were a blast to play. Now Atari is gearing up to release what appears to be a winning combination of old and new, with the upcoming iOS release of Asteroids Gunner.
