But now, you’ve been staying with each other for two weeks, which is two weeks of you trying to trust him again.

But one night, Zachariah gets injured as he was protecting you. It’s down to you to get you both to safety. As you’re alone together and taking care of him, the familiar banter you once shared soon turns into whispered confessions.

For fans of Mystic Messenger (like me), Text Your Life is perfect! Resembling the familiar chatroom-style of Mystic Messenger, you play as a law student who works part-time at a café. Despite the daily stress you face, you can keep in touch with your friends and long distance boyfriend through a messaging app.

Moving into your new apartment, you throw a party to celebrate. The next morning, you remember the feeling of kissing someone… but who? Play detective with your friends as you find out who you kissed that night!

Stuck in a realm between reality and illusion, you feel stuck. Do you have what it takes to find true love, or will you settle for this marriage filled with sinister secrets?

My Comedic Romance

Image from the game My Comedic Romance showing a person dressed as a clown talking to someone else.

Otome games don’t always have to be serious. My Comedic Romance, as the name implies, brings both comedy relief and love to the table. Set in Clowntopia, one day, you sneak into the circus tent after hours. Your goal is to look for the extremely charming clowns and romance them. Aside from romance, the circus and its boss are also shrouded in mystery and secrets!

Bajo las Rosas

Image from the game Bajo las Rosas showing a close up of someone's face and some text at the bottom of the screen.

Leaving your old life behind, you quickly move to a new area in hopes of a new start. Moving into a small apartment with a garden, everything seems perfect. Until you meet your neighbour. Behind his friendly façade lies something deeper. Something seems familiar in the way he looks at you, and it almost comes across like he knows you better than you know yourself. You soon begin to doubt if you can trust him, but more importantly, if you even trust yourself. With romance growing between the two of you, you can’t help but wonder if there’s more to him than meets the eye.

The more you talk to him, the more uneasy you feel. It seems he is going through a lot of effort to hide something from you, and you start to think it was best to stay in the woods. A secluded house, a yandere who is hiding something but clearly has feelings for you… What could go wrong?

Your rival has just beaten you in a hacking competition the two of you have. Rather than accepting defeat, you manage to hack into his database and leave him a message. As a respond, he hacks into yours, continuing the rivalry.

But, is this to-and-fro game simply a front, or are there deeper feelings involved? With a good, bad, and even a proposal ending, is hacking all there is to it? Or can you win over this snarky and smug man?

You soon meet the witch who is in charge of the local apothecary. Her aim is to brew more potions in time for the upcoming festival.

As you spend time with her, you realise that despite her skills, she’s quite pompous, and somewhat of a show off. That being said, you can’t help but feel drawn to her. Will you put your different characteristics aside and let her capture your heart, or will you not get on at all?

intertwine

Image from the game intertwine showing a young man speaking to the player with a city in the background.

Many believe in past lives, and in this game, so do you. You often get recurring dreams, moments of deja vu, and a close connection to someone. You brush this off as either a coincidence or memories you made with them from centuries ago. But one day you run into him, and you soon believe that it really does come down to a soulmate connection, and that this isn’t the first time you’ve fallen in love with him.

Alongside an enriching storyline, players can customise their name and pronouns. There is also voice acting, as well as a music room you can visit that features the original OST.

She finds herself drawn into the world of her painting, and soon gets confronted by a villain and six heroes. They see her as a God-like figure who brought them to life, but their intentions are unclear. Will she finish the painting, or leave them trapped in her canvas?

The Key to Us

Image from the game The Key to Us showing a man talking to a woman.

The world is void of any colour or emotion. Following three protagonists, you soon find out how empty they are. Trapped in an existence that doesn’t make them feel any pain or joy, they have no aspirations or dreams. With no strength to go on, their lives soon change. They meet 3 strangers who are intense and magnetic. Will the protagonists finally allow themselves to feel them, or is it too late?

Play as 3 main characters with 3 love interests available. There are also 7 endings available depending on the choices you make along the way. If art style is important for you, you’ll be pleasantly surprised! The Key To Us features a dark and melancholic aesthetic, representing the descent into chaos felt by the main characters.

That being said, dating a vampire doesn’t seem to be an easy road either. Will it result in another heart break for you, or can you get past the issue that comes with dating an otherworldly being?

Left On Read

Image from the game Left On Read showing a man dressed in formal clothes looking to the side.

Your friend Eiran left the country to go on a family trip. Although three months no contact wasn’t ideal, you didn’t mind, as you knew it was because he had no service… perhaps. However, he’s now been back for two weeks, and you haven’t heard a thing from him.

One day, you head to a party with your parents that his family is hosting. You decide that if he’s there, you’ll call him out and ask why he’s been avoiding you. You’re worried you upset him, or worse, he found out you like him.

Our Life: Beginnings & Always

Image from the game Our Life: Beginnings & Always showing a boy sitting down with the moon in the back.

For those wanting a more ‘feel good’ and wholesome story, this may be the one for you! Our Life: Beginnings & Always is a nostalgic Otome where you can design and create your own character and grow from childhood into adulthood with the lonely boy next door.

There is plenty of customisation available, and the game focuses on the smaller and simpler moments of everyday life. Following you from childhood, adolescence, young adult, and fully grown – the game mimics the change we would experience in real life with your in-game character. As you progress, you can edit names, appearance, personality, pronouns, and preferences.

The love interest, Cove Holden, also changes depending on the choices you make and how you develop your character. You can decide how fast (or slow… if you prefer slow-burn romance) the relationship between you both grow. If romance isn’t your thing, you can also opt for friendship… or a last minute confession if you change your mind!

Two years after she lost someone dear to her, and blamed herself, she meets Taku. Taku recommends a cafe called EDDA. Rumour has it, drinking the coffee will allow you to go back in time.

With a second chance to relieve her past, Mina lets her curiosity get the best of her and discovers the magic Edda Cafe has to offer.

Getting out of the car, Aspen walks to the nearest place they can find. That being, an isolated cabin in the middle of the woods. The homeowner turns out to be an environmental researcher, studying partial migration… alongside other things.

With three endings, voice acting, and a secretive yandere researcher who gives you a chilling nickname… what isn’t there to love? Will you take the risk and stay with him, or find somewhere else?

A Rainy Night

A Rainy Night is the perfect mix of cosy and romantic. You run a small library, spending your days surrounded by books. One day, a university student starts appearing and coming to visit daily. As the two of you start to see each other more and get to know one another, things start to change. You’re unsure if borrowing books is the only reason he visits.

Featuring a soothing soundtrack, lighthearted and cute scenes, and two endings depending on the choices you make. A Rainy Night is a short and sweet Otome.

Remember the days of Myspace? or even using MSM to message? If you want to relive that nostalgia of the early 2000s internet, LyteLove is for you! Set in around the 2010s, relive your teens by making friends (or more than friends) in this cosy and sweet otome.

There are 4 love interests, 1 masculine and 3 masculine – as well as multiple platonic and romantic endings. Each character has specific interests and hobbies you can talk about. Not to mention, a lovely and cute art style! I know I’ll be going for Jaiden…

Alongside the (somewhat tough) decision of choosing a Valentine, there has been a rise in mysterious disappearances in your hometown. Nobody knows if they have been kidnapped or killed… they simply vanish. You need to make sure you aren’t the next victim.

Knee Deep!

Image shows a blonde man from the Knee Deep game at a desk drawing.

Your assassin roommate, childhood best friend, and project partner are obsessed with you. So much so, they have admitted to being willing to kill for you. One day, an app starts broadcasting your friends’ crush on you and you can’t help but feel stuck with who to romance.

Knee Deep has three vastly different love interests, 2 endings, and choosable pronouns for the main character. For those who enjoy an obsessive, clingy, yandere love interest this is the game for you!

Under Your Skin

Image shows a man from the game Under Your Skin with blue hair sitting down talking to the player.

A prototype Volcaloid program called Veiss becomes yours, and you’re excited to compose music using his voice. However, the music begins to change as the lyrics become dirty and filled with declarations of desire. You soon find out that Veiss is a virus and hacking your computer.

Worst (or best of all… depends how you look at it), he wants you all to himself. He’s rude, snarky, and annoying. But perhaps he has a soft spot for you? The more you two talk, the more you two get on. Just… don’t call him a virus, that will really set him off.

Blooming Panic

Image shows four of the love interests in a collage side-by-side from the Blooming Panic game.

Depressed because of your corporate job, you start getting into a fantasy web novel to take your mind off of things. You find a link to a server to join the fandom and meet others. Everyone is welcoming and kind, but 4 of the members take a particular fancy to you.

There are 8 endings and 8 epilogues. It also features a music channel. PII restrictions, server arguments, and video calls – making the game feel more personal and realistic.

Assignment Due: Project Blue

Image from the Assignment Due: Project Blue game which shows a man typing on a laptop and looking at the camera.

This is for those who hate doing shared projects with someone! One day, you are assigned to a week long online project. Your partner is the shy, reserved, and quite boy in your class. However, as time goes on and you start to complete the project, feelings start to blossom.

Asher starts revealing a side of himself that no one has ever seen before. With a good and bad ending, as well as a customisable name and gender neutral story, perhaps Assignment Due: Project Blue will make you want to take on more shared projects in the future?

TOUCHSTARVED

Image from the Touchstarved game showing 5 men.

You are born with a curse. When touching a human, your hands twist their mind. In hopes of finding a cure, you make your way to the shadowy city of Eridia, where you come across 5 strangers. They can either offer you salvation, or damnation.

Each character has a route, with multiple endings. Every decision you make matters, so it is up to you to save yourself! Touchstarved is perfect for fans of dark fantasy and romance, as it combines it with horror elements too.

Turns out, the server is filled with serial killers. Your only option is to pretend to be one of them too, as if they discover you, they will either kick you out the server or even worse… kill you. As you get to know them, you realise they are kind and… hot. It’s your choice to live your happily ever after, or end up on the news as the next murder.

Online Obsession

Image from the Online Obsession game showing a man sitting in a diner talking to you.

Who knows who you can meet on the internet! Online Obsession is all about your online friend who you get to meet in real life. Good, right? Perhaps not. Adisorn is your online friend, and he has been your internet friend for 8 months. He’s recently moved to your city, and you can finally meet in real life to strengthen your friendship, or perhaps something more.

Players can fully customize their character, including pronouns, personality, skin colour, and hair texture, length, and colour. There are mini-games available to play alongside the main story, which has multiple endings. Don’t let the cute artstyle fool you, as Online Obsession has elements of horror and includes mature content.

A Date with Death

From the game 'A Date with Death' which shows a bedroom with red lightning and a man with silver hair in black clothes sitting down.

Fancy a date with death? Developed by Two and a Half Studios, you are simply a normal person. However, one day, a program appears on your computer with someone who claims to be the Grim Reaper. He tells you he’s coming for your soul, and it’s up to you to save it.

One of my all-time favourite anime characters, William T. Spears, is a grim reaper… so I was sold straight away! Apart from a unique take on Otome games, players can also customize their character, decorate their room, and have a pet.

While the cold, aloof, and distant type.

Although they both seem like your prince charming, you start to question whether their fronts are merely a façade and if they are part of the danger and secrets that corrupt this palace.

Trapped with Jester

Image from the game 'Trapped with Jester' which shows a jester sitting down.

Alongside Grim Reapers, I seem to also have a thing for clowns and jesters. If you’re scared of them, this might not be for you… or maybe it will help you overcome your fear! One day, you wake up with a headache and your memory a mess. You open your eyes and see an unfamiliar face and an unrecognizable voice. Do you have what it takes to survive?
