It was only a few weeks ago that I was loudly extolling the virtues of Slayin’ on a mobile games podcast. Slayin’s developer, Pixel Licker, had just announced a brand new game — and that instantly made my nostalgic for their first release.

A great game of single-screen combat, 80’s inspired presentation, and roguelike elements, Slayin is a Hall of Fame-worthy title on mobile devices. And while it would normally set you back a dollar, crafty consumers can download it free of charge if they head to the App Store or Google Play now.

There’s no word on how long the game will remain free, so if you’ve somehow missed Slayin’ in recent years, now would be a great time to rectify that oversight. And be sure to keep an eye out for Treasure Buster, the next game from Pixel Licker that combines elements of Zelda and pinball.
