Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy Review
By David Oxford
In late 2005, Capcom released a Nintendo DS port of their popular Game Boy Advance title, Gyakuten Saiban, to U.S. audiences for the first time as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Eight years later, the game has seen numerous sequels and spin-offs released for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS alike (with more still to come), and now the original trilogy of titles is available for iOS systems in high definition for the very first time. But do these titles that make up Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright Trilogy still hold up in court?Castlot Review
By Leif Johnson
It's unfortunate, but I found my principal enjoyment of Castlot in the names that some of its most devoted players use to refer to it in the public and alliance chat channels. One person calls it "Cashalot," while recounting the dozens of dollars he spent on protection scrolls to level; another calls it "Cast Lots," referring to a gambling-based resource game. They speak from long experience. After all, Castlot isn't exactly a new social strategy game - it's been around for a couple years in beta, and the recent update simply introduced some upgrades to the gameplay and aesthetics. But if my couple of hours with it were enough to serve as any indication, they're not necessarily substantial enough to warrant casting lots of your own in the hope of a better experience.SlamBots Review
By Mike Rose
Quite honestly, I didn't "get" SlamBots at first. I booted up the game, bounced around for a while, died rather quickly, and wondered what the heck all of that was about. I tried again, and received essentially the same results. And then again, and again, and perhaps a few more times as well.Reveries: Sisterly Love Review
By John Anthony
Have you ever started a sentence with "I'd give anything to..."? Well Monica uttered those very words when her sister Anna was crippled with cancer. But much to Monica's surprise, a voice answered from her mirror promising to grant her wish in exchange for her soul. Monica immediately accepted the offer and her sister made a miraculous recovery. Unfortunately, that voice belonged to an evil witch named Sybil, and she's in no mood to play nice.Tiny Barbarian DX Review
By Joe Jasko
Much like the simple life of the Barbarian, Tiny Barbarian DX is all about the basics. The game's two-button jump and attack control scheme works wonders towards achieving that old NES nostalgic vibe, and the vibrant Chiptune soundtrack makes me feel like I'm eight years-old again and playing Mega Man in my parents' basement. But despite the nice look and feel, the game is just too basic and repetitive to provide any real sort of lasting entertainment, and seems a bit barbaric in its own right.Pirate Storm Review
By Nadia Oxford
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me, I guess. Pirate Storm is a web-based adventure/massive online game (MMOG) from Bigpoint that puts you in the pantaloons of history's most intimidating sailors. The premise alone makes it sound like you're in for a swashbuckling good time, but between the game's repetitiveness and lack of stimulating exploration, these be dull waters.Kingsbridge Review
By Joe Jasko
Oh, to be in charge of a vibrant and youthful new kingdom! With a stunning cartoony presentation, slick gameplay mechanics, and a simple and logical resource system, Kingsbridge manages to stand apart as an enjoyable and colorful Facebook strategy game, despite its many core conventions that you've probably seen in other kingdoms before.Expeditions: Conquistador Review
By Nick Tylwalk
We've role-played fantasy worlds to death. Been there, slain that. What we haven't done nearly as much is explore real life settings, which can be plenty compelling in their own right. Expeditions: Conquistador by Logic Artists is here to help us rectify that, by allowing players to head up voyages to the New World of the 16th Century. Adventure, turn-based combat, intrigue, and a chance at fame and fortune are waiting.
