Dunk Dreams Review
By Joe Jasko
When I was in the fifth grade, I somehow got the idea in my head that I wanted to join the basketball team at school. So I signed up for a weeklong basketball camp over the summer, just to sharpen up my skills, and maybe score a dunk or two for the ladies. But then a funny thing happened: I realized I couldn't quite get the ball to go into the basket, like ever, and lost every training drill for my team singlehandedly. Luckily, the new basketball RPG Dunk Dreams from Brothersport Games offers the entirely opposite experience, and can make anyone the king of the courts in a manner of minutes through deep role-playing gameplay, and even deeper systems of player customization.Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians Review
By Andy Chalk
Beatbuddy is a difficult game to dislike, and the truth is I don't dislike it. But when I see the game world and hear snippets of the music and think about the idea behind it all, I am disappointed nonetheless. It's close - it's really close - to being something special. But in the end, it just doesn't quite pull it off.Amateur Surgeon 3 Review
By Joe Jasko
Ah, the life of a surgeon: having people's lives in the palm of your hand, wearing that prestigious white doctor's coat, and raking in those big paychecks so you could buy yourself a diamond-encrusted surgical blade if you really wanted to. It's such a shame, then, that society makes us have to jump through hoops and finish years of med school just to have the chance at the dream. Sure, I get they want us to, you know, practice operating on people, and to know what we're doing and all, but what about the rest of us who just want to perform some surgery now? Well that's where Amateur Surgeon 3 from Adult Swim Games comes in, where the only things you'll need to become a world-famous surgeon are a mobile device and a bloody pizza cutter.Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar Review
By Nick Tylwalk
The Ultima series is kind of like that girl you had a crush on back in high school: pretty awesome back in the day, but not the same after letting herself go in more recent years. Mythic and EA are trying to turn back the clock with Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar, a free-to-play RPG that freshens things up for mobile gamers but ultimately (no pun intended) doesn't quite live up to the fan favorite game that inspired it, Ultima IV.Spelunky Review
By Mike Rose
Spelunky is one of the most wonderful indie success stories you can find. It was previously released back in 2009 as a side project by Derek Yu, a developer who has dedicated much of the last decade of his life to the indie game scene, helping out other developers and generally being a force for good. After the original version of Spelunky proved a roaring success, Yu decided to go ahead and create a full-blown commercial edition of the game - and so we catch up to the present day, where Spelunky is ready and waiting for you to take up the challenge.Baby Nom Nom Review
Feeding a baby doesn't exactly sound like much fun, but you'd be surprised what can be turned into an addictive game these days. Baby Nom Nom is a surprisingly exciting physics-based puzzler with plenty to offer, even if its "cute" nature may seem a little too fluffy to be anything truly challenging.Freak Tower Review
By Rob Rich
Being the landlord (at least a responsible one) of a hybrid commercial/residential isn't easy. Keeping the tenants happy is a constant struggle in itself; to say nothing of the responsibilities of restocking store shelves, cleaning up after the creature that lives in the basement, and fending off incessant monster attacks. But a job's a job. And while the job in-question feels a bit familiar, it doesn't make Freak Tower any less entertaining.Mikey Hooks Review
By Mike Rose
It's fair to say that we liked last year's Mikey Shorts. It was a precision-perfect platformer that had something for everyone - speedrunners, collectors, casual players, et al. Now there's a sequel called Mikey Hooks, and while it doesn't does a whole lot new over the original game, you're not going to catch us complaining.
