Game of Watchcraft: Spawn of Squishy Review
By Nick Tylwalk
I had a revelation the other day that if the current me went back in time and showed the eight-year old me an iPad, it would blow my mind. Unless my current self was showing my past self Game of Watchcraft: Spawn of Squishy, that is, in which case I'd probably just wonder how Clicker managed to get an LCD game so flat. In the present, it's a game that ends up both living and dying by its remarkable devotion to handheld game technology that ruled the 1980s.VEGA Conflict Review
By Leif Johnson
Production values aren't everything, but all the same, it's hard not to do a double take when you boot up Vega Conflict and find yourself confronted with a well-voiced and decently animated cutscene. Here, such attention seems to suggest, is a social strategy game for Facebook among the legions of tired clones that's actually worth playing. For the most part, that's true. Vega Conflict may tread similar ground as KIXEYE's previous hit, Battle Pirates, but it handles the transition to space with panache.Telekinesis Kyle Review
By Joe Jasko
If I had telekinesis when I was Kyle's age, I think it sure would have made getting through middle school a whole heck of a lot easier! In Telekinesis Kyle, players take control of a young boy named Kyle, who gets dropped off at a secret research facility to learn how to fine-tune his telekinetic powers. However, things are not all how they seem, and soon after Kyle arrives, his new mentor Dr. Professor begins to show some questionable ulterior motives. But even with the whimsical and character-driven humor of games like Psychonauts on its side, there's too much about this puzzle-platform adventure that clatters to the floor like a loud metal crate with no kinetic energy to keep it in motion.Papers, Please Review
Papers, Please is a strange beast. On the surface, it seems most comparable to Cart Life: both games revolve around mundane and repetitive jobs that barely allow their protagonists to make ends meet. But while Cart Life utilizes sympathetic gameplay that reflects the tedium and uncertainty of living through each day in the life, Papers, Please creates a surprisingly fun time management experience for any player able to shuffle through the nightly routine of watching your virtual family slowly starve to death.DuckTales Remastered Review
By Mike Rose
DuckTales Remastered should be the greatest thing since sliced bread. An HD remake of one of the most loved NES games ever, put together by WayForward, one of the most exciting developers of the here and now? Why yes, I would like to grab a copy of that, thank you very much.Guacamelee! Review
By Mike Rose
In terms of getting me excited about a game, the phrase "A Metroidvania style action-platformer set in a magical Mexican inspired world" is always going to do the job. I do love my Metroid-style games, and enjoy exploring the twists that modern titles put on the original formula. Guacamelee is the most Metroid-like game I've played in quite some time - sure, it has its own little neat ideas packed in, but for the most part, it's heavily inspired by the Nintendo classic. That's far from a bad thing, mind you, as there's so much style and finesse lavished across this adventure.Jungle Heat Review
I'm going to come right out and say it: My.com's Jungle Heat offers almost nothing that makes it a fresh or original experience. Outside of the jungle theme, it's hard to find any way that it stands out among the competition. That said, its lack of originality doesn't make it a bad game. While it will likely be lost amongst more prolific strategy titles, Jungle Heat makes for one of the genre's most accessible entry points for Android gamers.Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time Review
By Joe Jasko
There are very few games out there of any genre or audience that have achieved such a worldwide adoration as PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies empire. Sometimes it's hard to know what you should expect from a sequel to a game that holds such a massive cult following among gamers old and young alike. There have already been some pretty high expectations surrounding PvZ 2, and to be honest, it's even a bit intimidating to be the one who gets to write this review. Because as I realized as soon as I started playing the game, how can I possibly put into words how amazing Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time truly is? Well after years of waiting, I'm happy to say that it is finally time to get those plant packets out and start protecting your time-traveling brainz once again.
