Left in the Dark: No One on Board Review
While on a recent trip to Belarus, I was struck by the need for a McDonald's cheeseburger. Days of strange foods made me crave something predictable and familiar. It occurred to me then that games are like food; sometimes we look for something new on the menu, and sometimes we want the assurance of the tried-and-true. Moonrise Interactive's Left in the Dark: No One on Board fits into the latter category—not remarkable by any stretch, but as an interactive experience, solid and familiar.Smash Bandits Review
By Alex De Vore
The cops are hot on my tail as I recklessly zoom over the bridge and into the heart of the city. The skyscrapers come into view as scads of innocent drivers desperately attempt to avoid my path of destruction and fail. As I smash into anything I can at high speeds and the authorities up their efforts, I feel an odd sense of peace and calm. Time slows to a near-standstill as I fly through an upcoming roadblock, and everything around me explodes in a fiery blaze of glory. I am a madman, and I've come to reap utter destruction.Governor of Poker: Texas Tycoon Review
By Nick Tylwalk
I want to get something on the record right away: I did not vote for anyone to become Governor of Poker, and I wasn't even aware such a thing existed. My editor says it might be an appointed position. Anyway, the series of poker games by that same name has made its way to Facebook in the form of Governor of Poker: Texas Tycoon, and… well, it's a poker game. Yep, it's definitely a poker game.Everlove: Rose Review
By Nadia Oxford
Across the bumpy stretch of human history, from the dawn of sentient thought, to the ravaging years of the Plague, right up to our current era of smartphones and Wi-Fi, there has been only one constant truth: love is a kick in the teeth. However well we handle our day-to-day crises with money, work, and family drama, scoring a loyal, dependable mate is an intensive years-long project. Silicon Sisters' interactive novel Everlove: Rose lets you dive backwards into your distant past where it turns out your romantic prospects are still sources of major drama. Who knew?Soldiers Inc. Review
By Leif Johnson
Mere moments into my playthrough of Soldiers Inc., one thought asserted itself above all the others - the music was rather good for a social strategy game. As I trudged through the familiar motions of base building and resource collection, I found I had to amend that - no, it was really good. And for good reason, too. Although it has many of the stylings found in a host of other Facebook strategy games, Soldiers Inc. has the great fortune to feature the music of Jesper Kyd, the composer behind such scores as Assassin's Creed and Darksiders 2. Call me shallow, but that's enough to warrant a play of this otherwise run-of-the-mill strategy game in my book.Animal Voyage: Island Adventure Review
Pocket Gems is a powerhouse free-to-play developer responsible for a large chunk of the free apps that offer extensive gameplay with the occasional premium price tag lodged between sections. The developer has a massive and loyal audience, despite the usual F2P trappings, and the latest addition to their stable is Animal Voyage: Island Adventure. It's an adorable endeavor, obviously aimed at children, that offers hours of entertainment - if you're willing to pay or wait around for it.Ben 10 Slammers Review
By Matt Thrower
I hate to start a review by being slightly egotistical, but I'm the parent of two daughters. That means that Ben 10 is something that exists for me peripherally, as a thing some of the boys they know are into. Collectible Card games, well, let's say I'm on firmer ground. And now there's a CCG for Ben 10, Ben 10 Slammers, and here I am reviewing it.LEGO: Legends of CHIMA Online Review
By Nick Tylwalk
Before we get into this, let's first pour out some adult beverages for the late LEGO Universe, a game that was beloved by my kids but apparently didn't attract enough paying players - including my kids. LEGO: Legends of Chima Online represents a second try at getting the no-brainer concept of a LEGO MMO right, and while it's not as imaginative as its predecessor, it's largely successful overall.
