Ben Kane is an Indie Game Developer (And You Can Be Too)
Marketing himself as "The Man at Going Loud Studios" on Facebook and "Indie game developer, training wheels edition" on Twitter, a quick scan of Ben Kane's social media reveals little to the curious creeper. The opportunity to learn more about the guy from Ottawa who was nominated for Best Indie at the 2012 Canadian Video Game Awards was given to me, a humble social media strategist, at the OIGC (Ottawa International Game Conference).Free Games and Sales: Rayman Jungle Run, The Critter Chronicles and more!
By Jim Squires
It's the Friday of E3 week, and we're exhausted. Whether at the show or covering it from the homefront, the entire GZ crew is beat. So are the developers who are usually so eager to set up sales, so… there's not a ton to pick from this weekend.Ghostbox Developer Diary #2: There’s a Cow on my Dragon!
By Troy Duguid
Hey there, I'm Troy and I make up 0.25 of Ghostbox. For our second Dev Diary I wanted to share a design problem we faced, and a lesson we learned on the way. So stick around, grab a chair, have a seat and let's get started...Kickstarter Picks: Minions & Immortals
By Nadia Oxford
Having your own minion sounds pretty sweet, doesn't it? After all, most of us can barely manage to make coffee within an hour of rolling out of bed, so possessing a thrall who can do it for you without scalding themselves (or you) isn't the worst idea. However, possessing and controlling minions is serious business in Minions & Immortals, an action role-playing/city-building hybrid for iOS. There's treasure to find and glory to reclaim. Coffee will have to wait. The Simpsons: Tapped Out introduces new “Waterfront” update
By Joe Jasko
Just in time for those wet and wild summer months, EA All Play has announced that a new update for The Simpsons: Tapped Out has gone live today. This new update, titled "Waterfront," seeks to expand the popular city-building game based on the long-lasting cartoon show with some fun boardwalk-based content.E3: Hands-on with Disney Infinity
By Nick Tylwalk
I'm probably not alone in thinking that when Disney Infinity was announced, it sounded a little too good to be true. Separate worlds for a bunch of beloved Disney and Pixar properties and a mode where you can mash them up, all tied together by collectible figures? Yet there it was, waiting to be played at E3, and if I can paraphrase Jackie Chiles in a completely different context, it's real, and it's spectacular. The Cave is coming to iOS this summer
By Joe Jasko
I had a wonderful time playing Ron Gilbert and Double Fine's imaginative puzzle platformer The Cave earlier this year, but something about adventuring through the dank and craggy environment in the comfort of my brightly-lit bedroom didn't let me truly feel for those fearless explorers in the game. Well now it looks like you'll actually be able to take The Cave outside with you into the world, and play through the fantastic and humorous platform adventure in an actual cave if you really wanted. Talk about dedication!SGN acquires Mob Science
By Joe Jasko
Today SGN, the esteemed cross-platform developer of casual games like Jewels of the Amazon and Bubble Atlantis, has announced their acquisition of Mob Science as part of the company's ongoing strategy to expand their development team and add to their impressive roster of games. This news comes hot on the heels of SGN's latest acquisitions of Hallpass Media and Mindjolt, and now with Mob Science entering the fold, SGN will secure the small developer's entire portfolio of games, including the hugely popular Legends: Rise of a Hero.
