King debuts Pepper Panic Saga on Facebook
By Jim Squires
Have you been wondering what the makers of Candy Crush Saga, Farm Heroes Saga, and Papa Pear Saga were cooking up next? I'll give you a hint: it's something colorful, charming, and muy caliente.Ok - I've probably spoiled the surprise with the headline. The latest game from King is Pepper Panic Saga, and it's now live on Facebook (so you should probably stop reading this and click that link already).I had a chance to go hands-on with a pre-release version of the game when visiting King's offices in Stockholm last month, and while I haven't played nearly enough to merit a full review yet (coming soon!), my time with the game was enough to give a good sense of what you can expect.Like Candy Crush Saga and Farm Heroes Saga, Pepper Panic Saga is a match-3 game - but with a twist. As players match like-colored peppers, they grow in size. Match peppers that are big enough and they'll trigger an explosion. Chain together enough explosions and its Pepper Panic time! There's also an evil cat that tries to steal your peppers off the playing field, which adds a whole new strategic element to the formula.Honestly, it has the potential to be the best of their match-3 games yet. We'll need some more time to see if it lives up to that potential, though. Stay tuned for our full review in the coming days. Or if you're really impatient (and why shouldn't you be?), jump in and start playing it yourself right now.Maybe online gambling won’t be made legal after all
By Joel Brodie
Everyone in the games industry assumes that it's inevitable that online gambling will be made legal. It's not a question of if, but of when.Online gambling has already been made legal in New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware. About the only thing that could turn the tide would be if a megalomaniac with a history of throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into political action campaigns decided he was against making online gambling legal.Enter Sheldon Adelson.Humble Bundle partners with Ouya to bring the first ever console game to the Humble Store
By Joe Jasko
After yesterday's announcement that Ouya would be getting a spiffy new Limited Edition console release in a pristine white casing just in time for the holidays, today we've also learned some interesting Ouya-related news. The company behind the controversial Android-based home gaming console has teamed up with Humble Bundle to bring gamers the very first console game to be available for purchase through the Humble Bundle website. The game in question is the highly addictive TowerFall by Matt Makes Games, and players will be able to scoop up the multiplayer combat platformer at a discounted price of $9.99 over the next 24 hours on the newly-launched Humble Bundle storefront for use on their Ouya console. Considering how Humble Bundle has been an avid supporter of Android games with their series of Humble Mobile Bundles (the third bundle was just unveiled today!), this is certainly a big win for the Ouya camp, especially if we see more of these kinds of collaborations in the future."You have just under 24 hours at the time of this writing to pick up TowerFall for your Ouya console at the discounted price, so you shouldn't hesitate to head on over to the Humble Store and get to platforming with your pixelated friends today! The Humble Mobile Bundle 3 goes live, brings Ridiculous Fishing to Android
By Joe Jasko
The Humble Mobile Bundle 3 has officially gone live today, and not only does the latest offering bring with it another great selection of indie games like usual, but this time it also has a few exciting platform debuts for dedicated Android users as well. Most notably, gamers will now be able to play Ridiculous Fishing and Swordigo on their Android device for the very first time.Gamers can pay whatever they want for The Humble Mobile Bundle 3 to receive EPOCH, rymdkapsel, SpellTower, and Swordigo; all while helping out the developers and doing some good for the Child's Play Charity. But if they want to pay more than the average (which is a mere $4.23 at the time of this writing), then they'll also be able to snag both Ridiculous Fishing and Kingdom Rush: and take it from us, those two games are pretty ridiculously amazing."You can pick up The Humble Mobile Bundle 3 for Android right now by heading on over to the Humble Bundle website, and don't forget to keep checking back on that page, as additional games are already promised to be added to the deal before the bundle reaches its end date in just under two weeks from now.Save some stellar babes: Space Chicks coming this Thursday
By Jim Squires
Want to know a secret? Space Chicks is going to be your next mobile obsession. We've had a chance to go hands-on with the next release to be published Crescent Moon Games, and - much like our first experience with Jetpack Joyride, Temple Run, and Canabalt - we're finding it impossible to put down.Space Chicks mixes the gravity-based gameplay of past releases like Angry Birds Space and Rabbids Big Bang with the endless running, jumping, and avoiding of your favorite 2D survivalists. We'll have a full review coming when it launches later this week, but in the meantime, we thought a tease might be in order.Crescent Moon seems to agree. That's probably why they just released this trailer;Get ready to rescue some Space Chicks of your own when the game launches this Thursday, November 21.Is Galaxy Run the next Run Roo Run?
By Jim Squires
There was a time, brief though it might be, that I really thought one-screen autorunners were going to be the next big thing. When Run Roo Run hit the App Store in early 2012, it was the craziest hit since Cut the Rope. But then… nothing. No follow-ups, no similar titles - not even a noteworthy clone. The one-screen autorunner seemed to be dead and buried after a single big title.Spiel Studios plans to resurrect the genre on December 4 with the App Store release of Galaxy Run, and that, according to the press release, "will require gamers to master everything from double jumps, speed boosts and grappling hooks to anti-gravity and portal mechanisms, all with a single tap."We don't know much about Spiel Studios - their past "hits" include games like Propel Man and Traffic Master - but I'll be damned if this trailer doesn't have me itchin' to try Galaxy Run out. Spiel Studios may not have the track record of Run Roo Run creators 5th Cell (the folks behind Scribblenauts), but that's no reason to count them out just yet.Be sure to check back with Gamezebo for a full review after the game's December 4 release.Kim Kardashian teams up with Glu Mobile for new celebrity lifestyle game
By Joe Jasko
Just when you thought our little corner of the internet was safe from the infamous clan of TV personalities known as the Kardashians, it looks like Kim Kardashian is going to be involved in the development of an upcoming mobile game next year. Yup, you read that right: Kim Kardashian will have a mobile game in 2014.The E! reality TV star will be teaming up with Glu Mobile of Contract Killer and Deer Hunter fame to create a brand new celebrity lifestyle game about, what else, but living the glamorous Hollywood life. The game will include both Kim Kardashian's likeness and voice, as she mentors players by giving fashion tips and career advice on their way to becoming a full-fledged celebrity themselves."Alongside the announcement, Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi has stated: "We look forward to leveraging Kim Kardashian's brand and fan base of 18 million Twitter followers, 15 million Facebook fans, and 11 million Instagram followers." In addition, de Masi says, "We anticipate that the combination of Kim's creative input with Glu's leading development and publishing platform will create a uniquely compelling celebrity game experience."Get a Limited Edition white Ouya console just in time for the holidays
By Joe Jasko
If there's one company and product that's become synonymous with terms like "train wreck" and "that's a darn shame" in 2013, that award would unequivocally go to Ouya and the disastrous launch of their Android-powered home gaming console earlier this year (not to mention the controversy surrounding their recent Free the Games Fund). But despite all of the negativity surrounding the company and the sheer amount of things that have simply gone wrong, no one can say that Ouya has stopped trying to sell the world on their unbalanced product! So to this end, Ouya has announced a special Limited Edition of their Android console for North America just in time for the holidays."The Limited Edition of Ouya comes in a shiny new white coating for both the console and the controller, and features an upgraded 16GB of memory for you to store all of the promised "500 games" in the Ouya library. The price is set a little higher than the standard edition of Ouya at $129.99, and gamers can pre-order the system right now on the Ouya website to be guaranteed a delivery by December 8.
