Run for your life in Super Scream Queen
Game developer Jindrich Stefan recently launched an Indiegogo campaign for his 2D action game, Super Scream Queen. Drawing inspiration from 1950s horror movies and the early works of Nintendo, Stefan is busy working on developing Super Scream Queen into an ode to his favorite film and game genres.Planned for Windows, Mac, and Linux, the game has players controlling a woman attempting to escape from hordes of pursuing monsters. Stefan plans to have around 70 levels in the final release, and while the levels themselves will be quite short, he explains that players will hardly be able to get through a level on their first try. He expects that players possessing average video game skills can beat the entire game in around ten hours.Catlateral Damage, Dungeonforge, and 48 other titles greenlight for Steam distribution
On January 21st, Valve announced that fifty more titles have been approved through their Greenlight program. Included in the fifty selected titles is Catlateral Damage (which we just covered last week) as well as Dungeonforge, No Photos, Please!, and Path to the Sky."These titles were selected on the same criteria we have been using in the past," Valve explains in the announcement post. "Votes in Greenlight give us a hugely valuable point of data in gauging community interest along with external factors such as press reviews, crowd-funding successes, performance on other similar platforms, and awards and contests to help form a more complete picture of community interest in each title."Trolls vs. Vikings heading to battle on February 26th for iOS devices
Game developer, Megapop, recently announced that their free-to-play iOS tower defense game, Trolls vs. Vikings has a set launch date of February 26th. Android and browser builds are expected later this Spring and Summer, respectively. Described as a "super-tight tower defense experience, with astounding depth of play" by Megapop, Trolls vs. Vikings draws inspiration from Plants vs. Zombies but innovates with features like moveable units, social features, boss fights, and surprise appearances by the Norse gods Thor, Loki, and Odin.Megapop promises over thirty hours of gameplay in Trolls vs. Vikings, as well as future updates and a multiplayer mode featuring live and asynchronous battles. Within the game, players defend a tribe of grumpy trolls from marauding Vikings attempting to steal the troll's gold.Sanctum developer to help Gone North Games finish A Story About My Uncle
Earlier in the week, Sanctum franchise developer Coffee Stain Studios announced that they are partnering with Gone North Games to complete and publish A Story About My Uncle on Steam later this year. Gone North Games' A Story About My Uncle is a non-violent first-person adventure game about a young man who gets lost in a mysterious world while looking for his missing uncle. Utilizing a grappling hook to swing through the game's world, players will gradually solve the mystery of where they are and what happened to their uncle."Coffee Stain Studios is primarily a developer, not a publisher," explains Coffee Stain Studios designer and PR manager, Armin Ibrisagic. "Other indie devs have approached us before, but we've been hard to convince. However, once we got a chance to play a demo of A Story About My Uncle, we were hooked. We just had to help these guys finish the development and publish the game on Steam."La-Mulana 2 Kickstarter: halfway to $200k within days
The Kickstarter campaign for La-Mulana 2 has managed to pull in over $118,000 in just four days. With 2,457 backers, and twenty-nine days to go, Nigoro and Playism are seeking an additional $82,000 to meet their Kickstarter goal.La-Mulana 2 is the direct sequel to 2011's La-Mulana. In the sequel, players are archeologists tasked with discovering the entrance of ruins that are rumored to be the source of the recent influx in monster appearances."It's true that La-Mulana 2 is a sequel," explain the developers on the Kickstarter campaign, "but we want to make it enjoyable both for people returning to the series and newcomers alike. While, 'You don't need to have played the prequel!' is a horribly overused cliché, we feel it's appropriate here. We want all players to be able to play and enjoy our work."Milkbag Games and NimbleBit team up for Disco Zoo
By Joe Jasko
Here's one last piece of fun and unexpected news to leave you with before the weekend: Milkbag Games and NimbleBit have teamed up to bring us a brand new game about dancing animals called Disco Zoo. And they said that Disco was dead…When we last heard from Milkbag Games, the duo of Matt Rix (Trainyard) and Owen Goss (Finger Tied) were hard at work on the upcoming Snow Siege, and NimbleBit had just put out the fantastic Star Wars: Tiny Death Star with Disney, so the announcement of this new game comes as a welcomed surprise.Alongside the official Twitter announcement, the developers have also released a 20-second teaser trailer that depicts various zoo visitors gathered around different animal exhibits, which are all brought to life through NimbleBit's signature and adorable 8-bit visual style. But then the lights go low, the disco ball drops down, and the zoo animals then get their 1970s on!That's all we know about Disco Zoo so far, but I don't think I'm the only one who can't wait to learn more. Keep checking back on Gamezebo for all the latest news regarding this seriously funky game's platforms and release date.Tilt to Live 2 is coming to Android in February
By Joe Jasko
Great news for Android fans today, as Gamezebo has learned that Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous from One Man Left is officially coming to Android next month! And in case you happened to miss our review of the game last November, we happened to think the sequel brought more of that same arcade-style goodness that made the first Tilt to Live such a blast to play. What's even more exciting about this news is that it marks One Man Left's very first foray into the Android market ever since the developer started making indie games in 2009. So naturally, Gamezebo reached out to the team to see if Tilt To Live 2's upcoming Android release might lead to a similar treatment of One Man Left's hugely popular iOS hit, Outwitters. This is what they told us:"Well, we're able to take TtL2 over because we developed it with Unity, so there was minimal reshuffling to do to get it to work. Outwitters would have to be rebuilt more or less from scratch, so I don't think that's going to happen. Now if we were to do an Outwitters sequel/spinoff (not planned at the moment, but we do play with prototypes from time to time), or really any future game, that's much more likely to make it to other platforms thanks to the tools we've started using."Oh well, but at least Android users still have the fantastic Tilt to Live 2 to look forward to! The addictive (and of course, redonkulous) arcade game will be making its Google Play Marketplace debut on February 24th, and we can assume it will cost the same $2.99 as its iOS counterpart.Free Games and Sales: Where’s My Mickey?, Dungeons of Dredmor and more!
