    Funny thing about so-called "tycoon" games: Hardcore business simulations at heart, apart from their surroundings (zoos, hospitals, malls, etc.) and candy-colored window dressing, there's often very little casual about them. In a happy turn though, Carnival Mania - which, like retail pioneers RollerCoaster Tycoon and Theme Park, challenges you to build your own fairground - actually does simplify play mechanics to heighten mainstream accessibility.

    With hidden object games more popular than ever, it's imperative that each new debut bring something different to the table. In the case of The Treasures of Mystery Island, innovation's offered by way of the need to assemble inventory items and use them to solve puzzles or spark off engaging mini-games. Albeit an occasionally frustrating experience due to well-concealed clues, the odd presentation hiccup and the inherent need to find small, oddly-shaped playing pieces, one needn't fret, however. Taken together, the whole of the title adds up to a fun, eye-catching experience that's considerably more than the sum of its individual parts.

    Normally, insects can present huge problems for farms, ruining crops, infecting cattle with disease and spreading blight throughout the land. In googly-eyed hero Beetle Bug's latest adventure, Green Valley - Fun on the Farm, though, they're actually in charge of turning an ailing estate and its fallow fields into a thriving concern.A pleasing match-three mindbender that's blessed with brilliant audiovisuals and myriad challenge types, from a pure value standpoint, the game proves a solid, if not banner harvest. As such, while well above average in terms of overall quality, it's nonetheless a little rough around the edges for the - and we quote the developers here - "most agricultural puzzle game of all times [sic]!"

    For hundreds of years, classical music has provided fans young and old the world over with a safe, uplifting source of pleasure and enjoyment. Now it gets its own game in Musaic Box, a mix of hidden object and logic-based puzzle-solving mindbenders. Albeit easy on the ears and a pleasure to look at though, the title's not what we'd call especially fun or full or surprises. As such, it's the sort of outing you might tinker with from time to time, but won't feel any pressing reason to come back to save to enjoy the occasional toe-tapping ditty.

    Pop quiz: What do ghosts, talking owls and sunny seaside getaways have in common? They're all part of Pakoombo, a catchy new tropical match-three puzzler set to a Calypso beat. While not particularly groundbreaking, and saddled with several inherent design flaws, it's nonetheless a respectable attempt to jazz up an overpopulated genre.Play for the nicely animated presentation and host of minor game enhancements. Still, don't expect the title's repetitive action and formulaic layout to provide more than a few passing highlights.

Guess again, because refreshing new strategic outing Wagons Ho! challenges aspiring quartermasters to march a train of wide-eyed settlers across the wilderness to a new life in the West.Surprisingly simple and brisk, you'll be pleased to note that it's possible to enjoy an engaging and eventful trip across miles of wilderness in just five minutes or less. Alas, life on the road isn't always easy, sadly due less to the frequent random events (allies deserting, hostile Indian attacks, etc.) one's confronted with than the title's formulaic play, limited scope and archaic presentation.

    Like its predecessors, time management title Turbo Fiesta is notable for two reasons: a catchy, restaurant-themed presentation, and hyper-kinetic pacing. Offering more of the same food-slinging action fans know and love, it's more of a cosmetic upgrade and change of scenery than a major step forward for the franchise. Still, if the average casual outing feels way too relaxed and low-key for your tastes, don't be ashamed to download ASAP.

    Something strange happened on the way to the local Cineplex this morning. Not only had the theater been given a 5-star makeover, but it was the direct result of our hard work. Moreover, juggling budgets, managing snack inventory and picking which films to screen unexpectedly proved a thrilling reward unto itself. Thank the recent debut of Cinema Tycoon 2: Movie Mania, one of the finest business simulations we've ever seen.
