    It seems like asynchronous strategy games have been getting more and more popular on iOS lately. It's a trend I'm rather happy with since I happen to enjoy the sub-genre, but as with most surges in popularity, it has its drawbacks. Mostly, it's that the glut of releases crowds the market, making it difficult to pick out the truly worthwhile examples. Sadly, Wizard Ops Tactics doesn't stand out from that crowd.

    As much as I've enjoyed the Iron Man films, I just haven't liked the games. Whether they're for consoles or mobile devices it seems like Mr. Stark is stuck with a reputation for sub-standard quality when it comes to interactive media. Iron Man 3 is no different. Gameloft has managed to pull Stark out of the mud, clean him up a bit, and shove him right back down into the muck.

    If anyone is ever in the mood for running a city under the auspices of organized crime they have plenty of options to get their fix in a family-friendly way via the App Store. Freemium mafia games are pretty much their own subgenre at this point. While Crime Connection isn't without its own set of problems, it manages to stand up quite well against its peers.

    Playing multiplayer card games can often be a mixed bag. For example; great artwork and fun mechanics are sometimes easily forgotten when squaring off against an opponent with a seemingly infinite supply of powerful cards. This is the main reason I can appreciate Might & Magic: Duel of Chamions. Even the toughest cards can be brought down with some careful planning.

    NetherRealm's DC superhero fighting game has been turning a lot of heads lately. It looks great, and by most accounts is a fun and competent brawler. As is customary, this also means a watered-down iOS release. Although that's not entirely accurate. Injustice: Gods Among Us certainly isn't as robust or complex as its console counterpart, but it's a solid hybrid of RGP, CCG, and fighting game that caters specifically to the mobile market.

    Divine warriors fighting the good fight against an endless horde of demons is a fairly typical subject for video games, but I can't think of many examples involving dice games. And yet that's exactly what Hell Quest is: a dice game against the demonic hordes. The weird thing is it's a surprisingly cool dice game against demonic hordes, even despite luck playing a bit too big a part in success.

    Know what I miss? Arcade-style racing games. It seems like these days everyone's focused on realism and simulations. That's why it's fairly refreshing to jump into Nitro and blaze through a few laps; it's not exactly brimming with power-ups or cartoon characters, but it's less focused on the real world and much more interested in slightly wacky fun. And chibi cars.

    iOS games that emphasize team management via tracing paths on the screen to both move and designate targets are always a good time. Of course sometimes they can be a bit unwieldy. This is Heroes of Destiny's most notable trait: an intelligent and responsive interface. Being full of different characters to hire and lots of loot to upgrade is just a perk.
