It sounds strange, but that's pretty much what Konami has done with MLB Dream Nine for Facebook, a bizarre game that is more like a trading card game with baseball trappings than a straight sports sim.

They're at it again in Heroes of the Pantheon by StudioEX, asking you to battle your way through this freemium Facebook action game to prove yourself as a hero and help defeat the Titans. Fine, Zeus… let me go get my sword.

    It saddens me to think that if you shouted "No whammies, no whammies… stop!" in a room full of Millenials, there's a chance no one would get the reference. So it's possible that Press Your Luck Slots by Ludia is intended to appeal to an older audience, though Facebook gamers of all ages may get a kick out of this slots game inspired by the classic game show. And you won't even need a big red button to play.

    It's hard to be too fast or too furious while sitting in front of your computer (unless you're furious at your computer), but you can do some drifting through Tokyo, Miami and several other major cities right on Facebook. Hypester's StreetRally will have you squealing tires with the best of them while racing against live and AI opponents, though this street racing experience is missing just a bit of authenticity.

    Everyone loves dynasties. Jay-Z likes talking about them, and general managers of sports teams spend a ton of time and money trying to build them. Since most of us are a bit short on both of those things, it's nice that Hothead Games has come up with Big Win Football. Now, building your own mini football empire can be done from your iPhone or iPad, and honestly, that's a lot easier than working your way up to become GM, anyway.

    For console gamers, there's a Highlander situation when it comes to NFL football games. There can be only one, and it's Madden. Mobile gamers have some more choices, however: one of which is NFL Pro 2013 by Gameloft. Now available for iOS devices and headed to Android soon, it tries hard to find paydirt in a genre living in one game's shadow. Mostly, though, it ends up like Carson Palmer quarterbacking the Raiders: Erratic and potentially expensive.

I had to content myself with the BattleTech series of tabletop and computer games to know what unleashing the power of a giant walking tank would feel like. Personae Studios and Smith & Tinker are doing their best to help repair my wounds by releasing MechWarrior: Tactical Command for iOS devices, a real time strategy game that kind of, sort of scratches the itch.
