    You got learning in my online gaming! Before you accuse me of the reverse and we end up in a Reese's style standoff, just know that either way could be used to describe Animal Jam. This kid-friendly multiplayer browser game definitely has an ulterior educational motive, but it's not out to cram anyone's head full of facts without first making sure they have some fun.

    Writing something in all caps is generally considered bad form, but when two of the guys behind Trials Evolution do it because they're excited about their new project, we can probably find it in our hearts to forgive them. Yes, I've officially decided on behalf of everyone that it's fine for Frogmind Games to call its upcoming iOS side-scroller BADLAND, especially since it hints at combining moody visuals and innovative gameplay into one sweet package.

    Casual gaming isn't just fun, it's also educational. Take Megapolis, the cross-platform city builder from Social Quantum. I assumed the developers made up that word just because it sounded cool. Turns out it's actually a legitimate alternate form of megalopolis, which is exactly what you could learn to build by playing on Facebook, iOS or Android. Just be prepared for a definite feeling of deja vu if you do.

The machines don't want to wipe out all humans, they just want to build a whole bunch of towers and turrets… Which, yes, will then go about eliminating all humans. All is not lost though, since we can fight back via Anomaly Korea, thefollow-up to 11 bit studios' popular reverse tower defense hit Anomaly: Warzone Earth.

    If you're going to borrow, you may as well borrow from the best. The much anticipated fantasy RPG Ravensword: Shadowlands owes a lot of its look and feel to the Elder Scrolls series, particularly Oblivion and Skyrim. Considering the popularity of those titles, Crescent Moon Games was smart to pick them as its muses, and despite a little bit of unevenness, the result was worth the wait for iPhone and iPad owners.

    Growing up, I knew Playmobil only as a company that made cool toys of pirates and knights that were too expensive to buy without getting a job, which turned out to be illegal before age 10. Modern kids have it easier, as Playmobil Pirates from Playmobil Interactive and Gameloft lets them build their own pirate island and sail out for adventure for free on their iPhones or iPads.
