    I'm not a fan of romance novels. There, I said it. For some of you, that might disqualify me right off the bat for reviewing a game based on a romance novel, but I assure you, I went into Tiger Eye: The Sacrifice with a totally open mind. I've been surprised by romantic storylines before, and I was willing to believe that an adventure game based on a book by best-selling romance novelist Marjorie M. Liu could be a winner. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

    Why aren't there more sci-fi hidden object games? Is it because the genre's innately historical, and sci-fi is generally futuristic? Or is it that hidden object games are mostly played by women, and women don't gravitate toward sci-fi? In any case, it's a shame more games don't adopt sci-fi's unique themes. Then again, the new hidden object adventure Phenomenon: City of Cyan gives it a shot and fails miserably, thus demonstrating how difficult changing genres can be.

    I gotta hand it to Artogon Games, makers of hidden object game, Shiver: Poltergeist. They did something few developers manage to do—surprise me. Although the game's premise isn't earth-shatteringly new (the hero suddenly inherits a big house from heretofore unknown relatives), it's presented in a creative way that'll keep you (as it did me) guessing. Furthermore, thanks to deft storytelling, cool characters and truly spooky visual effects, they did another thing few developers manage to do—scare me.

    The village of Rosemount has a problem. For years, it's been beset by a vile witch with an unhealthy liking for cold and snow. Worse yet, it's burdened with a series of foolish individuals who against all logic, seem bent on helping said witch send the village back to the ice age. In Living Legends: Ice Rose, you play a young woman determined to save her gullible beau from becoming the latest of this icy enchantress's willing thralls.

    Question - why are video game heroes always the same kinds of people? They're always commandos, cops, FBI agents, detectives, mercenaries or reporters, which for the most part, limits what we can do as them. I for one am always looking for the chance to step into the shoes of a different kind of hero, and Silent Nights: The Pianist promised to let me do just that. Unfortunately, after making that promise, it more or less failed to deliver.

    It's not good when the first thing you do upon starting a game is sigh. The first thirty seconds of Entwined: Strings of Deception definitely had that unfortunate effect on me as I clapped eyes on the intro cutscene's uninspired 3D graphics. I knew then that the most I could hope for during the next few hours was, well, not fun really, but perhaps a modest diversion. How I wish I wasn't so good at making these kinds of predictions.

    Some complex financial news this morning as we have just learned that Zynga will be pursuing a secondary stock offering in the hopes of raising $400 million. However, and here's where things get tricky, only a specific class of stocks are going to be sold and the driving purpose behind the move is not to raise money for the company, but rather to force those already holding stock to hang onto it for a longer term.

    The Vampire Saga series is a strange one. Though called a "saga", it more or less ignores the narrative continuity implied by the term. The latest in the series, Vampire Saga: Break Out, though meant as a prequel, provides little in the way of insight, but offers a more streamlined experience than the Vampire Saga game that preceded it.
