    Elephant Games stampeded onto the hidden object scene a few years ago and since then, its games have been lauded by both critics and gamers alike. So far, 2012's seen the release of three more stellar games from three separate franchises. This month, the company continues its charge toward genre domination with yet another excellent hidden object adventure—the third in the Grim Tales series—called Grim Tales: The Wishes.

    Of late, there's been a resurgence of solitaire-based games, both in the casual and social game arenas and through it, some interesting variants of the classic card game have emerged. With Legends of Solitaire: The Lost Cards, developer The Revills Games obviously hoped to add to the growing list of cool new solitaire titles. Sadly, the company's slap-dash adventure/solitaire game just isn't that much fun.

Casting us as ambitious pioneers, it allows us to follow in the footsteps of our forefathers by traveling to a new world to build a new society. More importantly however, it invites casual players to enjoy what can often be an intimidating and overcomplicated genre.

We helped Jesse solve famous people's problems and watched in suspense as internal strife threatened to utterly destroy her influential, time-traveling clan. This month, the ultimate fate of the Flux Family is finally revealed in the series' final chapter, Flux Family Secrets: Book of Oracles. Unfortunately, playing it is time you'll never get back.

    For some time now, the makers of mass market entertainment have been rediscovering fairytales, banking on these stories' perennial appeal to make imaginative new TV shows, movies, games and novels. This month, casual game developer MoaCube brings us Cinders, a stylish role-playing-game/interactive novel based on the original Cinderella story. While thus far, interactive novels have been more popular in Japan than the U.S., once American audiences get a load of titles like Cinders, that audience is bound to grow.

    The hidden object genre is still relatively new to the social platform, but it's already in danger of getting stale. The first of these games basically slapped a hidden object element onto Farmville-like environment building mechanics, and many subsequent titles simply duplicated their efforts. Fortunately, some game makers are seeing the need to expand on the formula, and Rooms of Memory, the latest hidden object adventure from prolific social game publisher 6waves, is a flawed, but encouraging indicator of how the genre's developing.

    A common theme for hidden object games is the search for missing people. At this point, having looked for countless villagers, patients, kids, parents, damsels in distress and significant others, I was hoping upon firing up 1 Moment of Time: Silentville for a new spin on the "missing persons" idea. Alas, while Silentville does offer an interesting approach to cinematics and a few interesting puzzles, in the end it fails to bring much new to an overused story concept.
